Alcatraz is an American television series created by Elizabeth Sarnoff, Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, and produced by J. J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions. The series originally premiered on Fox on January 16, 2012, as a midseason replacement.[1] Switching between eras, the series focuses on the Alcatraz prison, which was shut down in 1963, due to unsafe conditions for its prisoners and guards. However, both the prisoners and the guards disappeared and are now being tracked down by a government agency. The series stars Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Sam Neill and Parminder Nagra

For the longest time, ever since the prison facility closed down and the remaining hard-core loner prisoners had been evacuated in a final transport, none of the visitors of the small island of Alcatraz seemed to give a thought to their common final fate.

Suddenly, the fog around these criminals is being pierced. One by one, another specialized law-violator with a purpose is being seen in present-day San Francisco, where the newly recruited partnership of a dedicated law officer with an unusually skilled Alcatraz savant faces a plate full of secrets, violence, previously unknown scientific occurrences and interrelated, deep-rooted grudges by police, guards & criminals alike

Rebecca Madsen è una detective del San Francisco Police Department che sta indagando su un atroce caso d'omicidio, quando si ritrova con un'impronta appartenente a Jack Sylvane, un criminale che era rinchiuso nella vecchia prigione di Alcatraz e che era dato per morto da decenni. Quando tenta di approfondire il mistero, l'agente federale Emerson Hauser tenta inizialmente di ostacolarla, per poi affiancarla nelle indagini con il suo fidato tecnico di laboratorio Lucy. Rebecca, che nel frattempo si era rivolta all'esperto della prigione Diego Soto, scopre che non solo Sylvane è ancora vivo, ma non è invecchiato di un giorno dai tempi in cui era rinchiuso ed è tornato a seminare vittime. Inoltre, presto la detective Madsen si renderà conto che Sylvane è solo una piccola parte di un mistero molto più grande: altri prigionieri stanno infatti per riapparire dal passato.
