Question 99

Party like it's 1999'
image
For me 1999 was a great year, i was 9 years old and life really rocked. I had my favourite toys intact and not broken and i managed to keep the head still on of my barbie(i did cut her hair in hope of it growing back) but it never did.

It was also a super new years eve that year for obvious reasons and also it was the last year we had fire crackers in sweden(you can still make them on your own though) i had a hole sack of those basterds and i blew everything up(HAHAHA) but then on the news they said they had to outlaw them because people was not care full enough and they got hurt by them. I come to think of something i saw in a movie once "if you have a cracker in your palm and then it blows, you only get burned. If you have a cracker in a closed fist, the hole thing blows to kingdom come" And that was exacly what happend to many people so they had to take them away from us(government Grrh!)

Now we have rockets and similar things insted, things that shoots away from you before they blow up.

I think the hole damn planet was drunk that new years eve, it would have ben wrong if it was not i think. I also had my first shot in my life with "Absolute vodka" and i did not like it one bit.

So in short, i had alcohol and i blew things up and i had a great time with family and friends and loud music was playing the hole night all over my little town.

How did you party in 1999' ?

On the eve of the millennium I was living in Scotland in a tiny little hidden valley in the mountains. I and a handful of other people in the valley had gathered at an old quarry by the river where we had a huge bonfire and everyone had drinks and we were just generally having a good time. I had built some explosive pipe bombs and mixed some of my home made explosive powder with iron filings for throwing onto the fires embers.

I was standing a little way away from everyone else alone with my thoughts and looking up at the stars (it was a very clear bright starry night) suddenly in the distance I saw a bright light that appeared to be coming straight down the centre of the valley towards me. I thought it was some sort of giant rocket type firework but it was travelling too fast and was too big. In seconds it was above my head and I could see that it was about the size of a football (soccer ball) and it was trailing fire and some smoke behind it. I have no way of knowing how high above me it was but it was very low indeed, maybe less than a hundred feet. In moments it went right over the top of my head and disappeared down the valley. For one of the only times in my life I was stunned into silence and could not get any words out to tell everyone else what I had just seen. I would love to be able to find the mountainside it crashed into and find a piece of it but the area it would have crashed in is vast and empty, but I have the memory of that night and it made the millennium eve quite magical for me.

had just moved to a country town of less than 7000 from the biggest city in the country....i spent the night getting drunk at a backyard bonfire and freaking out that my new redneck friends, who were all drunker than me, decided to begin firing a miniature cannon into a corrugated iron fence....
i spent new years day patching holes in the next door neighbours house with my new redneck friends :)

My family spent two months stockpiling water, and then we celebrated with champagne, Alfred Hitchcock movies, popcorn, and hamburgers.
I was, of course, nine years old at the time, so champagne was a surprise and a treat.

I was holding my pee pee as I drunkenly urinated and listened to everyone else counting down to the new year. Less than memorable.
