Some many times have I doubted why people like an anime. Either because I don't believe the hype or thier explanation turns me away from it. Guilty Crown was like that. Reading what people were saying about it. Hyping it up to something like Cowboy Bebop was. Even reading the official website, wiki's, ANN, and anidb tidbits did little to get me to watch it. However I did watch it jsut to quench the curiousity that is always festering inside to get out.
What it's about?
The resistance between infected humans and non-infected humans. Years before the series a catastrophe happened causing many to be infected. The series starts with a pink haired girl fleeing for her life and being found by an unsuspecting teenager. From that point on his life will be different. He will be thrust into the struggle as the ultimate weapon to stop everything
Why I recommend it?
Decent action. Likeable characters. You are automatically attached to the two main characters. What they go through and how they interact with one another. You feel the hopelessness of the male leads feelings towards the female leads. You also feel her cold feelings that she puts out to save his heart from the truth.
What I wish it had.
A better story that made sense and didn't have more holes that a block of swiss cheese. This is the only issue I have with it. It's starts off great, you get the story and you start to understand things. Then the middle of the series you get lost. Then it's the end and your like "WTF".
This was by far not a bad anime. It was great until the story fell apart. It seems like they rushed the story to get it over with. Easily this could have and should have been a 2-3 season anime. Instead what we got as a smashed up 22 episode anime that didn't do the story any justice.
