Here is my opinion I posted on an idea post that was removed, but I figured lets get this out here and see what others think about the rep system.

What is Rep worth anyways in the long run here?
Can we exchange it for something tangible?
Does it make my uploads show up in higher ranks?
Can I cash it in for prizes or a prepaid visa?
Will it get me into a contest and give me an advantage?

The answer is NO, its only a way to manage how social one is on this site.

Get rid of rep as far as i care. It seems that some here think that those who post messages or funny pics on walls just want to gain rep. I even got messaged personally about trying to rack up the rep myself, and slandered in the picture forum for it. So I just stopped posting on walls and only answer those who visit me. I personally believe that if you do not want people to post on your wall, then don't have one. It is that simple. And I see people saying this is not Facebook and if you want a site to be social then go their. Well lets ask ourselves this, why have a wall, forum PM and hell even a blog. Guess what, all of these things listed create a social environment, as I believe admin wanted it to, so who gives a damn if they post on peoples wall. Who even cares if they spam every single person here. If you do not like it just remove it from your wall, or just take the wall down to save yourself time and effort if it bothers you that much.

I am not saying everyone does it, but if you are taking this personal, then I probably am talking to you.

The one thing that made me like this torrent site outside of others was that you can socialize in many ways with others, that other sites did not offer. But after the negative response from doing just this, I say hell with it, I will just go other places where I can do what I like and just maintain the minimum here.
