Is this possibly the worse waxwork museum in the world?...Some people in the British media have labelled it as such. Personally, I don't think so. In fact, I believe it to be one of the best. Well, the best for laughs anyway.
This is Louis Tussaud's House Of Wax, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk on the East coast of England. A waxwork museum which has gained a cult following due to its unintentionally "monstrous" waxworks of famous people and celebrities.
Its 2 owners, now in their 80's plan to retire,but can't find anyone willing to run it. Shame really, I was planning on heading there next summer....

The Udachnaya Pipe is a diamond mine in Russia. The owners of the mine plan to cease its operations in 2010 – in favor of underground mining. The mine was discovered in 1955 and is over 600 meters deep.
Sinkhole, Guatemala
In 2007, a 300 foot deep sinkhole swallowed a dozen homes in Guatemala – killing 2 and causing thousands to be evacuated. The sinkhole was caused by rains and an underground sewage flow.
Diavik Mine, Canada
The Diavik Mine is a mine in the Northwest territories of Canada. The mine (opened in 2003) produces 8 million carats or about 1,600 kg (3,500 lb) of diamonds every year.
Mirny Diamond Mine, Siberia
The Mirny Diamond Mine is 525m deep and has a diameter of 1200m. It was the first, and one of the largest, diamond Pipes in the USSR. It is now abandoned. While it was still operational, it would take two hours for trucks to drive from the top to the bottom of the mine.

The Great Blue Hole is an underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize. The hole is 1,000 feet across and 400 feet deep. It was formed as a limestone cave during the last iceage.
Bingham Canyon Mine, Utah
The Bingham Canyon Mine is a copper mine in the Oquirrh mountains, Utah. The mine is 0.75 mile (1.2 km) deep, 2.5 miles (4 km) wide. It is the world’s largest manmade excavation.
Monticello Dam, California
The Monticello Dam is a dam in Napa County, California, United States most noted for its large circular spillway with a rate of 48,400 cubic feet per second.
Kimberley Diamond Mine, South Africa
The Kimberley Diamond Mine (also known as the Big Hole) holds the (disputed) title of being the largest hand-dug hole in the world. From 1866 to 1914 50,000 miners dug the hole with picks and shovels, yielding 2,722 kg of diamonds. Attempts are being made to have it registered as a world heritage site.
Darvaza Gas Crater, Turkmenistan
In 1971, geologists discovered a massive underground deposit of natural gas on this site. Whilst excavating the hole to tap the gas, the drilling rig collapsed leaving a massive hole. To prevent poisonous gasses from escaping, the hole was allowed to burn. It continues to burn to this day and has done so without ceasing.

Officers spent almost 24 hours combing the countryside around Clacton-on-Sea after residents reported seeing a "massive" animal.

Officers have spent almost 24 hours combing the countryside around Clacton-on-Sea after a group of residents yesterday claimed to have seen the king of the jungle near Earls Hall Drive in St Osyth.

But after search teams found no evidence of the big cat, the force this afternoon decided to stop looking.

Witnesses reported seeing a lioness in fields stalking up and down a hedgerow before it was disturbed by a farmer and ran off.

Armed officers and Colchester Zoo workers armed with tranquiliser guns searched for pawprints after sightings of the animal were reported at 7pm on Sunday.

Police urged residents in the village to remain inside their homes as the search for the big cat continued.

But on Monday an Essex Police spokesman said: "We believe what was seen on Sunday evening was either a large domestic cat or a wildcat.

"Extensive searches have been carried out, areas examined and witnesses spoken to; yet nothing has been found to suggest that a lion was in the area.

"We would like to thank the local community and holidaymakers for their patience and support throughout the past 24 hours as the police and media presence would have been somewhat overwhelming for them."

David and Susan Wright said they photographed the lioness from their back garden after spotting it in the field.

Mrs Wright told Sky News: "It definitely looked like a lion, the head, the body. When it stood up you could see the tail as well and it was massive.

"I'm convinced it looked like a female lion, definitely.

My thoughts.....too many afternoon sherry's for these folk. It was probably a big domestic cat or a dog!.

Even, the helicopter out looking for it added to the mayhem....Che Kevlin said he heard what he believed to be a roar whilst out walking his dog on Sunday night.

"It was worrying as we had just been for a walk with the dog. We saw the police helicopter but thought it was just searching for a person," he told the BBC.

"It sounded like the roar of a lion. We have a field and wood just behind our fence, so you never know."

They did manage to get a picture of the beast....

A group of body confident women in China left little to the imagination on their way to setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest ever bikini parade.

Traffic came to a halt in Huludao city, Liaoning Province, over the weekend, as more than 1,000 women marched to make history.

The group of women, aged up to 70, paraded for nearly two hours before their efforts were officially ratified by Guinness World Record officials.

Crowds lined the streets to watch the parade as performers kept them entertained with an array of dance routines throughout the street carnival.

Organisers held the event as part of the annual China International Beach & Bikini Culture Exposition held across three days.

The event easily eclipsed a previous record set by 450 women in Panama City, Florida earlier this year.
Earlier this year, organisers of another world record bikini parade attempt in Madison Lake, Minnesota, were left red-faced when only an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny number of participants turned up.
Organisers had predicted they would easily break the world record, however well publicised opposition from Madison Lake City Council meant the attempt was blighted by poor attendance figures

In a submission to the U.S. Copyright Tzar the MPAA and RIAA characterized Kim Dotcom and his colleagues as manipulative, “wealthy and arrogant.” According to the MegaUpload founder this language is a sign of weakness. “There is no need to sway public opinion because everyone can see how the MPAA and RIAA are corrupting the system by infiltrating their own people into key
government positions,” he says.

Last Friday the MPAA and RIAA filed a joint submission with Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel.
The two groups gave their recommendations for future IP enforcement policy and among other suggestions offered to help out with future international actions against “rogue sites” such as Megaupload.

“In this case, the Justice Department and other federal agencies are now grappling with a set of wealthy and arrogant defendants who are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to sway public opinion against efforts to hold them accountable,” the groups wrote.
An interesting choice of words.
Ignoring whether or not the statements apply to Dotcom or not, being “wealthy and arrogant” is by no means a crime. In fact, many people in Hollywood and the music business can easily be described using the same terms. In addition, “swaying public opinion” is one of the main goals of both the MPAA and RIAA.

In a response to the name-calling, Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom says the insults are a sign of weakness. According to him there is absolutely no need to “sway anything.”
“They are calling me names because the case against Megaupload is a stillborn cripple,” Dotcom told TorrentFreak.

“There is no need to sway public opinion because everyone can see how the MPAA and RIAA are corrupting the system by infiltrating their own people into key government positions. They are openly paying politicians and hiring public officials who are favorable to them.”
Dotcom is referring to the so-called “revolving door” between the U.S. Government and the copyright industries. As a result, the MPAA and the U.S. authorities prosecuting Megaupload can be considered a close group of friends.
“A recent example is the senior vice president of the MPAA Marc Miller who recently called me a ‘career criminal’ at a press briefing regarding the potential dismissal of the Megaupload case,” Dotcom says.
“He is a former prosecutor and colleague of Jay Prabhu, one of the US Attorneys behind the prosecution of Megaupload. They worked together in the Computer Crime division at the Department of Justice and they jointly won the Anti-Piracy Leadership Award from the SIIA.”
“Good friends help each other,” Dotcom adds.

As mentioned before, Kim Dotcom and his legal team claim to have evidence that vice president Joe Biden was the one who ordered the shutdown of Megaupload. According to Dotcom the vice president admitted this in public.

“At a recent fundraiser luncheon Joe Biden openly admitted and bragged that he was behind the Megaupload termination. And that he had to convince Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to back him and Chris Dodd. We have a credible witness who has provided our legal team with evidence.”
Dotcom is convinced that Biden is the mastermind, and that people such as assistant U.S. attorney Jay Prabhu are nothing more than foot soldiers waiting in line to walk through the revolving door.
“Who believes that Jay Prabhu, a semi-talented assistant US Attorney with little respect inside the DOJ has the balls to take down a global cloud storage business with millions of legitimate users and 4% of all Internet traffic? He is just a soldier following orders.”

How hackers steal bank details from chip and pin machines
The banking details of millions of British customers are at risk amid claims that card readers used in shops and restaurants can be hacked.

Security flaws have been identified in some chip and PIN terminals, which it is suggested allow thieves to download a customer’s personal card details.
As a result, it is claimed that thousands of terminals, commonly found in shops and restaurants, will now have to be re-programmed.
Experts uncovered the security flaw, which affects payment card terminals that use a card and PIN number for a transaction.
Security consultants MWR Infosecurity showed they are vulnerable to hacking.
Using second-hand terminals purchased on eBay, MWR accessed the computer code on which the terminals use.
Using this code to programme a fake chip and PIN card, they loaded the chip with malicious software capable of “reprogramming” the reader.
The card can be made to look like a normal credit or debit card in order for criminals to be easily able to use it in shops or cafes.
The malicious card then transfers its software to the reader, which begins storing the details of all subsequent cards inserted.
The criminal then returns later on, using a second malicious card to download the data, including the card numbers and PINs.
A spokesman for the security firm told Channel 4 News: “In our demonstration we just got the card number and PIN, but a real criminal would probably reprogramme the reader to request that the card is swiped.
“This would give maganetic strip data which could be used to clone the card.”


Quite clever, huh? And they tell us chip and pin is the safest way to go.

Today is the day I attempt to kick my addiction to nicotine of 17 years. I don't mind admitting, I'm more than a little apprehensive and scared. Yeah, scared. I'm scared I wont succeed. You see, I enjoy my cigarettes. What I don't enjoy is paying £70 a week on them. Its the money that is my motivation for stopping, that and the fact I don't want my kids to think smoking is ok.
I've never given the health implications relating to smoking much thought, I know what they are and I believe them to be true, but when your hooked on nicotine you put all that to the back of your mind.
I haven't smoked in the house for over 3 years, I'd go to the back door for a smoke, so I really need to break that habit. My last cigarette was 12 hours ago, I've been up today for 3 hours and found myself heading to the back door a couple of times.
I'm not doing this cold turkey, no way! I'm using a tablet called Champix. It apparently has a success rate of 60% here in the UK. It works by blocking the pleasure receptors in your brain so that when you smoke a cigarette you dont get the reward you would normally get. I hope it works for me. And now I need to go eat something to take my mind of smoking, I'm really starting to get the urge now.
