The Elizabeth Tower is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, and is generally extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower as well. The clock tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower. It celebrated its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009, during which celebratory events took place. The tower was completed in 1858 and has become one of the most prominent symbols of both London and England, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city. It's old name is The Big Ben

SirSeeds, you are incorrect. The Gunpowder Plot, for which Guy Fawkes gained his infamy, took place in 1604. He was one of thirteen conspirators who were intending on blowing up the Houses of Parliament, and with it the Protestant King James, to replace him with his daughter, Princess Elizabeth, who was third in line of succession, and thus return the Crown to being Catholic.
Big Ben, on the other hand, came much later. After a fire largely destroyed the Palace of Westminster in 1834, the architect Charles Barry was commissioned to rebuild the Palace. Barry engaged Augustus Pugin to design the Clock Tower, which was completed in 1859, some 255 years after Guy Fawkes died.
