What a stupid idea for a movie.
But it's so bad that it's even hilarious.

Bad acting? Check. Dubious dialogue? Check. Unresolved plot elements? Check. Worst movie of the 2000s? Check.

What the hell were Timothy Dalton and Max Von Sydow thinking? The Earth is in danger and rather than sending a team of Navy Seals to kick some alien butt a journalist, a scientist and a jock are sent to sort out Ming the Merciless!
