Can someone persuade me into watching Naruto. I want to watch a great Anime that will keep me hooked and wanting for more, something that will give withdrawal symptoms when it finishes ;) .

I want to know,does Naruto have a lot of filler episodes??? You know like DBZ.
Also why such a huge fan following, is it good?? I somehow thought that this show just has mindless fighting and wanting to become stronger and stuff like DBZ, with little or no plot at all.

So,why watch it when the story is almost the same as DBZ ,only difference being that these guys are ninjas .

Is it something worth watching? Also is Naruto childish like DragonBall??? I understand that Naruto Shippuden has an older Naruto,but do I need to watch the previous 220 episodes of Naruto before Shippuden?

I've seen great Anime and they have one thing in common, more plot less fillers(thereby reducing the no. of episodes to at most 50-80).
I'm sorry for the constant comparison with DB and DBZ,it is just so similar.

Thank you everybody for the replies and suggestions. I saw the 1st episode of Naruto,found it somehow juvenile for my taste;and I was right about the whole Naruto-DB/DBZ hypothesis,they seem extremely similar in storyline.

Ive watched both series im an anime fan as well. i liked the naruto series yes there are some fillers to in the series as well as dbz had. Like dbz if you dont start at the begginning you wont understand whats really going on with naruto and company.Although you were right in the comparison of the two the main charecters strive to become stronger and what not theres also a good storyline there to fallow.

Yes, that being said and all.
Does the basic plot involve Naruto fighting enemies stronger than him defeating them in the end and in the process saving lives of millions of people????

Lol well not in every case but there are some good fights with him using new techniques that hes barely mastered at the time kinda trying to make it more interesting

And yes he goes up against several enemies much stronger

Therefore,making the plot predictable.
I wanted something on the lines of intriguing with plot twists.
Seems Naruto isn't for me.
