God no - I cannot stand the new age manufactured material. Most of today's so called 'music' is crap, and the young artists have little or no songwriting experience. They rely on a reality show (and teenage votes) to land a recording contract. They seldom sing live. Bring back classic rock - whether it be metal, or alternate rock - (such as those by Aussie bands like Cold Chisel, AC/DC, or international artists and bands like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top etc.), or even decent songs by decent artists with well written lyrics. Real artists who could perform live as well as on their albums have long since gone the way of the dodo, so all we have left are their legacies of their past work. We seriously do not need any of this X-Factor or Idol garbage being spoon fed to us nowadays.
![]() Music of the 70s and 80s was far better than the teen idol crap we cop today. ![]() Last edited by AstroTronix20314, 1 year ago 1982 - Last year of left over 70's rock/pop coming into the New Romantic Era
1983-88 - Pop music was still about 1989 - Moving into the more digital era that started around 1984 and stockman, aitkin and watermen crap era 1990 - House music = death to pop music! A few survived into the 90s and 2000s but once R&B really made an impact along with it's friend Autotune.. the world of Music has gone to Sh*t... It's funny people calling newer music "mass produced crap", when all music is mass produced to some extent. I've always likened these discussions as the previous music generation always talks crap about the new generation. the 50's did to the 60's. The 60's did to the 70's. The 80's did to the 90's. The 90's did to the 00's.

As a HUGE music fan I'm more than aware that the mainstream is generally shite, BUT.! the scenes in each genre and style are so more developed and there is a multitude of brilliant music there for people who are willing to actually look for it. oh, and... house music became electrified, but still existed beforehand in essence in the form of disco, pop died because it was fad crap. Like R'n'B will fade to grey. Last edited by JfiSG1nG2872, 1 year ago I think that the biggest indictment of today's music is the dearth of any "super groups"...those groups whose music has stood the test of time. Where today are groups like Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Eagles, Rolling Stones or any of the number of groups who have been around for decades and can STILL sell out huge venues? All we have today are a string of one-hit wonders who are heard on the radio for 5 minutes and then never heard from again...

The charts has always been a string of one hit wonders... such is life, but the best music these days does not appear in the top 100 any longer. |
