How can I copy a DVD to a AVI or MP4 to one continuous file28 May 2012, 11:53 (11 months ago)
Just curious what software professional users use to make copies of DVDs into one continuous file. I have tried handbrake. I copied the file and converted it to mp4. I could see the video working on my computer but when I connected my TV up to via LAN , I could play the file but it kept starting and stopping but on the computer the file looked fine. I would prefer to convert the VOB to DIVx , but as I keep saying in one continous file. How do you do this? What programs are professional users doing this with?
Thanks new member Magnesium7 Well all I really want to do is to copy my DVDs to my hard drive but in a AVI or MP4 format, but a DVD has separate VOB files so when you go to copy it , it separates the chapters. I don't want this to happen. I want to copy a DVD to AVI or Mp4 etc in one continuous file. Thanks for trying to help me Shagball
Try reducing the video bit rate when you rip the DVD or Blu-Ray to keep the file size down. Large video file transfer over wireless is unreliable. In my experience, keeping the file size to 700 MB or less usually takes care of this.
Some of the better utilities I've used to rip discs are Freemake and AVS. Because a DVD has chapters , so when you copy the program separates the VOB files into different files. Like I've been saying I dont want this to happen I only want one continuous file. I tried a program called handbrake and another called vidcoder. They both did this but when I tried to watch them on my tv set they would stop and start. I tried changing the settings but that never worked.
No problem. I had the same issue trying to get movie files to transfer over my, admittedly over-engineered, wireless setup. It's embarrassing to sit there with a group of friends and have the evening's movie skip all over the place before stopping altogether.
As for copying, yes, most all of them will make a single file for you. For some discs, you need the latest version of the software to handle the newer protection schemes. it's really a matter of taste as to which one to use. I also use Handbrake in a pinch when the other two won't do what I want. Try removing the chapter markers (Handbrake does this) if you're having those kind of stopping issues. Also, what media player are you using? Last edited by Mertado3170, 11 months ago |
