It has been brought to my attention that some of our female members are suffering sexual innuendo via the pm system. If this is the case, then it needs to stop and stop now. If you are having problems with a certain member regarding sexual pm's then please contact a staff member straight away and we will deal with it.

I have also been told that some of our female members will not come forward as they feel that nothing is ever done regarding these issues. This is not the case, as we do take such actions very seriously and act upon them accordingly.
If it is proven that you are harassing female members for sexual gain, then your account maybe removed without prior notice. Before such an action is taken, we will endeavour to seek both sides of the story and mediate between the members in question.

You will then be informed of our findings and what the outcome will be. If however you think the findings or penalty do not meet with your agreement, then it will be passed higher up to admin. Those inturn will look at all the evidence and present you with their outcome.

I hope that in the days to come, we can reduce such harassment instances to as low as possible. The internet is a place of anonymity and many take advantage of that, making fun and ridiculing, people need to learn that there is a person behind the computer and you need to respect him/her and their beliefs.
I know the matter at hand is sexual harassment, but harassment in any form in my opinion is uncalled for.

I guess it's not such a bad thing being an old lady. I get many PMs from friends here, but I have never been annoyed by anyone saying inappropriate things to me. Only had to deal with one or two people who were mad at me for one reason or another (not everybody likes me!) ... but I think our Pirate Princess pretty much hit it right on the nail... Oh yeah, magicpotions1211 , I know there is a strong tendency for people everywhere in any public forum, to try to meet someone and hope it might turn into a "romance". More people are meeting others on the Internet these days than ever before. And there are plenty of lonely people in this world now. Our big multi-cultural, international culture (especially the one that has no boundaries on the Internet) opens all kinds of doors, some of them totally imaginary ... for possible connections we never thought would be possible.
The problem is, some people don't know that old axiom, "Your freedom ends where my face begins." They either don't understand, or simply don't care, that it's not appropriate or acceptable to stalk other people just because "they can".
And a lot of people lie about a lot of things now too.. because of the "so-called" anonymity of the computer. They lie about their age, their lifestyle, their education, their looks, their health, their careers.. everything. Lying is the "norm" in the post-industrial world - you can't trust your own eyes about what people tell you. So having a "serial killer" stalk you thru your emails and your forum associations is a scary possibility. UGH!

The female members here are human too, and should be treated equally and fairly with respect for their feelings. Opinions notwithstanding, everyone deserves a fair go here. Harassment on any forum is not acceptable. Sadly there are 1 or 2 new users who don't understand this and see some of the females as 'easy targets' and/or below them in the food chain.
Surprisingly, I have copped a few sleazy PM's from new male users (with 0 rep) offering disgusting and vulgar 'propositions' - and as I have mentioned before, it has been dealt with, either by my deleting the messages and blocking the users, or reporting them and forwarding to staff. Luckily, there have not been too many of those since I brought it up in a thread a couple of months or so ago.
I do not flirt and I am not a sleazoid deviant looking for a pick up. NO means NO.

Well, I think positive communications are great fun. No objections. But you know, there's always somebody ready to claim that you provoked them, that you encouraged them and, if they are annoying you, that "you asked for it". It's hard to know where the line is... from either side. (And some people wouldn't know where "the line" is, if you painted on their forehead.) So it's one of those chances we take ...
