On Topic: My 6850c is Going to be delivered Today!! So I'll be off line for a while.. Yea, with Core temps hitting 70C every time I got past 12% OC, I never held Prime longer than 11 minutes and I Quit screwing with It! With the Grid Overload causing Blackouts every day lasting from a few seconds to three hours, I'm beginning to think, awe crap, that one or more of the Blackouts may(?) have fixed My problems. Well, At Least My PC Isn't sending Me messages in Morse Code, knock on wood, anymore! Even shut down, some power still remains to the PC unless It's unplugged, So It would still send the messages(?) I got problems speaking American. Never could learn to speak Morse good enough to bother getting a Radiotelegraph License. So I began to question if it's something inherent in the mobo/chipset or it's just Dirty Power from the $40.00 Apevia PSU, causing a high SNR ?
This Rig was build AMD Cheap simply because I used the Few good parts and upgrades I'd salvaged from a HP PC, (PC stands for Piece of Crap), that Died B4 it was One Month Old. No Way in Heck was I gonna send a Hard Drive with all the family Soc. Sec. Numbers, Bank, Debit Card, and Credit Card w/ security codes etc. in for repair. Other than Total Destruction, I don't know any way to wipe a HD that doesn't spin(?) Anybody (?) Since I'm putting off considering a CPU upgrade until I see The Piledriver specs, and Prices, I'll just leave as is, or consider a self contained cooler. Since I really built this one for My 10 Year old, I don't want to invest too much now know I can't future proof much. I'll try to get back with some numbers soon as I can. Until then, God Bless and Mabuhay. Android262648
Ok thanks CESMADJ!
![]() ![]() I am wondering if that is a weakness in nVIDIA's part to render dust, air particles, dust, smoke, gas, dust, clouds, chemical dust etc etc etc... OR does that occurrence happen to both ATi & nVIDIA? what I am referring to that in so so many years that I've played FPS, 3rdPerson Games and Racing Games, when the scene has dust or your character/Car passes through "Smoke", "Gas", "Dust", "Cloud", Chemical Dust Particles etc etc, the screen slows down or the frame rate goes down for both high-end and mid-range nVIDIA card. (i've never owned an ATi card yet and haven't owned an low-end nVidia card since) It happens to both AMD and NV. See this graph
You cant see these dips in the middle of the graph, they are your "busy" scenes were the cards are little overwhelmed (it might be the CPU too) ![]() But this is actually a nice plot, lower end cards will have more dips in the graph plot. Last edited by cesmadj1917, 9 months ago Bat.1423

. If you are having so much trouble with electricity consider investing in a UPS. Too many brownouts and the PSU will be a mess. While all components suffer HDDs seems most sensitive. Happened to me personally, PC was fine but much of the data from the HDD was damaged. After a reformat the HDD was fine... Many mysterious instabilities occur because of a bad PSU. If you still want to get some use from that PC consider replacing the PSU with something of good quality but low power to keep the price down. Corsair CX430 V2 430W at $39.99 is a stable PSU with a low ripple. BTW, The only way to wipe a non spinning HDD is with a hammer .Last edited by cesmadj1917, 8 months ago LOL Bat.197 you are running through some tough PC love my friend . . BTW, The only way to wipe a non spinning HDD is with a hammer .. I've been using The Map Torched until Glowing, Flash Freezing, then Sledgehammered Method. I'd tried the Hammer Only Method, but By Gawd them things are So Tough it took Me Hours to Destroy. Unbelievable The Wife and Kids can kill That many a Year! With the USB drives, I just bought them a few 4GB PYNs to see if they live a little longer than Kingston or Corsair(?) I bought Myself a 32GB Survivor Stealth, so if I ever go to somebody else's House, I can have all the Tools to De-Bug, and Tune-up their PC w/o having to go online. I can also install games like DC-U Online without wasting 10 Hours and 19GB of Bandwidth. I'm planning that if/when I can afford another CPU, I'll put the AMD-650 back in The HP "DumpsterTroll", then use it to Boot Ubuntu, I really want to TRY to re-learn it. Miss The Speed! . I've been looking at UPSs, but anything worth having, is far out of My price range for Now. We don't have but a couple more Months of mid/upper 90s F. Summertime temps left, But then We'll be at the high point of Hurricane Season,,Awe Crap,, again. If I could get outside to My shop and actually find things like an O-scope or freq gen, I'd also have to find somewhere to put them! 4 Big-Time Pack Rats in a House Trailer = No Available Space! I really would like to see the power as is, run through a transformer, then maybe with a couple of diodes added to the PSU. I'm only going to be running the single 6850c so I could go down on the CPU wattage, but if They ever kill the Family Desktop, I'd pull the 6850(not c) and go crossfire. NOW to CPU coolers. Especially if I chip-it-up, I'm going to have to look at aftermarket coolers. NOT a big fan of these spring-loaded type clamp downs that AMD uses. I'm afraid of adding too much weight. With my hands being this crippled there's no way I'd consider trying to build my own. And since this is for a Kid, I'd prefer to stick with Air-Cooling. My next Months budget definitely has to go to replacing My Never-Buy-A-Kodak Printer. Prints 8 pages then runs out of ink in the colored cartridge, Then You Can't Even Scan(?)!! And I also need to start buying the game controllers etc. for the PC. For a laptop, I'm still undecided, I may start looking at Toshiba. The SONY's are just too high, and I'm pissed at ASUS. They changed Their Web-page so unless You're going to buy a new model from Them, You'll never get Any Specs on what Stores are selling! Plus I'm still considering a Major Overhaul on Borg. Got a bunch more surfing to do, but IF I could get the right Sony bios(?) My Animals are up and Not on the War-path Yet, so If I can do anything, I better start now! how are you doing bat.1!? feeling any better now?
try frys or bestbuy for ur ups needs. you might get a bargain. PYNs are fine i guess. nice choice. havent heard anything seriously wrong with them. for your psu might u wanna try scoping out for 650-750watts range. try FSP group, thermaltake, corsair and coolermaster brands. I personally am going for water+air cooler kits. those new ones that are hitting the markets now. might wanna check them apples out. ur looking for the complete printer? printer+scanner hmmmmm not so knowledgeable on that but i only go for Epson or Canon for those stuff. Forget sony! Screw sony! pardon my french. Sony is always known to bump up prices too much, wayyyyy too much. they are always than not overpriced at almost every aspect. by the way, For flatscreens go for Samsung no no no for sony! u gotta better deal with samsung than sony. Laptop? hmmmm toshiba or Acer or Compaq are ok. But why bother with a laptop when you are building a desktop? or maybe you just want em both huh? hehehehe. By the way Bat.1, here's some links/url's you might want to check for CPU cooling courtesy of Cesmadj and battleready. They help a lot! So better to have one than have none when u need it. hahahaha.
