This thread is for Android262648 from my side to help him get out of this problem!!
He wants a Graphic card !! His Budget is 500usd to 800usd!! On Basis of this : games+performance+budget He have 2 questions: 1. nvidia or ati? 2. single unit gpu ultra high end or just a simple high end but sli/crossfire? And give ur suggestions!! 60 replies before

This is one of the several links that solidified my decision. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2402195,00.asp and here is the chart I made, below, just click on the image. maybe it just might help those others with my same predicament. 1. row colored green is my final choice (for now it seems it is the king of the hill for me). 2. rows with purple shade and black font is the one i have and the one with white font is the oem version. mine is factory overclocked. 3. those rows with beige/fleshy filled color is just to emphasize differences but with same gpu chip. ![]() so u r going for nvidia yes. but not gtx 690, i find GeForce GTX 680 to be way better!
Thanks everyone! especially thanks to you Evil Boy! Evil Boy™14772

yes. but not gtx 690, i find GeForce GTX 680 to be way better! Thanks everyone! especially thanks to you Evil Boy! The GTX 680 is not better than the GTX 690. It's not all about clock speed. Look at the other specs on the 2 cards. The 690 clearly is the better card. Thanks for pointing that out. I have made all considerations possible believe me. including suggestions, opinions also PRICE and POWER CONSUMPTION. And I see myself I'd be happy with GTX680 ...maybe I can do an SLI after I get my Mobo and cpu and storage and memory etc.
yeah, i know, i've seen the chart, but i find the GTX680 to be a better deal over all, in my case. these are the components that the 690 is higher 1. Standard Memory Config 2. CUDA Cores 3. Memory Interface 4. Memory Interface Width 5. Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 6. Relative Compute Performance 7. Relative Graphics Performance But at the end of the day, i find price based, the GTX680 to be a better catch. SLI could be an option too. anyways next year or maybe even sooner there will be another card that will outmatch what we have today. Either it will be Nvidia or Radeon. We will never know. Since my GPU choice is solved, Now I gotta choose: 1. MOBO 2. CPU 3. Memory dude for 800 dollars are you looking to save power or to make yourself happy.
7970 all the way! A M D! A M D! A M D! oh u already chose a graphics card. didnt see that one my bad. ya that pringles can knows his GPUs he helped me get mine as well and im happy with it.CPU- u got a nvidia card so u might as well choose intel cpu Last edited by MOST_WASTED4562, 11 months ago Android262648
Thanks Pringlescan! I really appreciate your inputs!
Since my GPU choice is solved, Now I gotta choose: 1. MOBO 2. CPU 3. Memory You'll want to do more than look at technical specifications as they won't tell you everything about performance. Benchmarks compare two cards and their performance in games and compute applications.
www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=555 Looking at this, the GTX 670 is very close to 680 performance for a much better price point. I own a 680 and am very satisfied with it so if the extra $100 isn't a big deal then it's a good choice. (There is that part of me that wishes I had held out for the 670 and save that $100 though. As far as Mobo CPU and Memory go, just pick your CPU and the rest sort of falls in place. Since you want intel I would recommend either the i5-3570k or the i5-2500k. The 2500k can hit higher clocks while keeping good temps, while the 3570k is newer and supports pci-e 3.0. If you want to overclock its a tough choice, if not the 3570k wins handily. For Mobo, just get something that suits your needs, perhaps one that will allow future expansion. You'll want to go with intel's new z77 chipset. Example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131821 RAM is probably the easiest. Just grab 8 or 16 GB of whatever. G.Skill Ripjaws is a popular option, I have corsair vengeance. Last edited by Kasualty211, 11 months ago Personally I think we need to face the fact that very few of us have the right amount of power for most of our daily use. I'll admit I dream of a i7-3930k on a Asus ROG MOBO, but I know that would be Severe Overkill. Half of us are underpowered, like I was with my old laptop Borg, due to lack of funds. The other half have way more power than they'll ever need. Except for "Bragging Rights".
Even with a Athlon 2x4 650 CPU, 90% or more of the time I have the BIOS on My M5A99X Evo MOBO set to Underclock mode. About 9% of the time going into Normal mode gives me all the performance I need. With the last 1%, well I think I finally scraped up enough to order the 6850c from Tiger Direct. $149.99 w/ free shipping. Since all I'm running is a little Gigabyte 5450c, I've never bothered to Passmark or Overclock my Rig. But I think if i get all my Win. Scores at 7.4 and above, there's not too much I can throw at Her that would Bog Her Down. But, I'll Still be Dreaming! MOST_WASTED4562

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't get the GTX680 yet havent scoped out frys or bstbuy yet. usually i saw lots of xfx in bstbuy. But I will be getting a card real soon. yeah i gotta consider power consumption of the card, you have to consider that because its gonna add up to your monthly electricity bill. a great awesome performing card with lower energy consumption than the competition, now that sounds like a winner in my book. but yeah if it's convincing enough I might change my choice. but as of now I'm waiting for a reason to yet. Yeah sounds like pringlescan really knows his stuff. i added an additional $150 buffer just incase but i decided to stick with one card yet and then do SLI later on when cards get a bit more cheaper. i was also basing my final choice with the number of pm's i got about which would be a better choice. and also the link that i placed with my chart comparison that i built up. if you want, could you point out which aspect the 7970 would deliver way greater throughput against GTX680? But, I'll Still be Dreaming! i understand dude. but know what, you'll get what you dream of somehow. me i just use a very strict cost cutting discipline. cut on spending. just to reach my savings amount to what i want to spend on. sometimes its a lot harder that is seems but eventually we get there.
some people think (in my opinion) just because "it" is the most expensive out in the market it is the very best, BUT it is not always the case. i've learned that before you buy something learn about it and as much as possible, make a comparison. then you will see which is best. sometimes, what is best for you is not what is best for somebody else and vice versa. and also when needed, know why you need the item for.
