utorrent is giving me headaches.05 July 2012, 20:44 (10 months ago)
In the past few days utorrent has been acting strangely. When I try to download something while still using the internet it "hangs up". For example...I'm trying to download a movie right now. Everything was looking good. Download speed was climbing. I went to a site to play poker a few minutes later. All of a sudden the game kicks me off the server and I check utorrent. The Download speed is steadily decreasing until it hits 0 and sticks there. I then go back to check the internet page...try to reload it and it refuses to load anything. I then pause the download and my internet goes back to working perfectly.
If I download and go watch a movie on VLC it works fine. I'm on unlimited WiFi if that makes any difference and I also use a VPN. I used CCleaner yesterday and thought maybe that would help but it didn't. What could be causing this and how do I fix it? 10 replies before
I don't know. I guess I just don't understand why if I am downloading and not using the internet at the same time (I'll go watch a movie on VLC or something) everything works fine. Try to download AND surf the web at the same time and it hangs up on me. Torrent stops and no internet pages will load. Cut the torrent off and the internet works perfect again. It's just strange to me.

It's not strange It's bandwidth if you don't have enough speed that is how it goes Can you pool 10 tons with bare hands!?!..I guess not but try using a tractor it will be easier ![]() If you have a good speed and isp that don't give a damn it's all good but if your isp (like mine) decide that silently support SOPA/ACTA thing then you are...well not satisfied with your connection ![]() ![]() Last edited by MASKOMBAT7774, 10 months ago Been happening to me too. Check for updates. Help > Check for updates If no updates - I'd try reinstalling. Otherwise maybe try bitlord or something. I hope my post made you happy down there. It's just strange to me. You just sorta answered your question. Everything works fine until you try to surf the net with utorrent running. It's not utorrent. The same thing will happen with any torrent program you use. The issue is one of a few. Your router, meaning it's doesn't like trying to route connection with wifi. VPN, vpn's can cause connection stability issues. MASKOMBAT7774

It could be ISP. Especially since most of us aren't experiencing the same stuff. Check your settings. Figure out if it's your ISP, in which case it would be time to change the program/s you're using to d/l. Sometimes we gotta evolve.
