 Peerblock is a great app and all and I know the lists update themselves(in a manner of speaking).
But I'm just wondering if you guys have any other programs/methods you use for ip blocklists? PS: Please don't tell me get a vpn, seedbox or anything like that :) I'm happy just using a blocklist  Well, technically, a blocklist will only prevent you from getting hit by the actual corporate IP ranges included in that list. Unfortunately, a lot of people are being independently outsourced to record IP addresses of people D/Ling the questionable file. It also "absolves" the owner of ALSO using torrenting software (and being guilty of what they are trying to accuse people of with the SAME data).
The lists also throttle out ranges which might include regular users trying to share their own media through means of torrents, thereby limiting freedom of distribution. All that said, I *personally* still use Peerblock, and let it update regularly. Those will have the more dangerous IP's in the list. Some torrent clients are equipped with IP filter, to name a few: Tixati, Vuze, qBittorrent. To be honest I don't think blocking IP makes you more secure. Your IP is listed by the tracker and other peers (PEX) already. Blocking connections on your side doesn't help that much. It does and doesn't. It works for the most part. Peerblock doesn't block you from your side it blocks those from seeing your IP. If an IP is loaded into your list it won't see what your IP is. It'll be a blank to them. If you want Peerblock to start with Windows, go to Settings, click the next button, and check the box that says Start with Windows I'm aware of that setting but whenever I turn it on it still doesn't start for me :P I've tried on several of my comptuers. if you want to be safe get a seedbox. stop wasting time with software that does`nt protect you fully. if your not prepared to pay to be properly safe don`t be surprised at getting caught. I could get a seedbox but it's not that big of a deal to me. The way I see it using peerblock(or similar programs) is like avoiding the ghetto part of town. it doesn't mean you won't get mugged but it's better than nothing. I saw somewhere about a new program like peerblock but I can't remember where it was or what it was called :P i think i also had a problem some time ago with peer block not starting from its program settings. if you have windows 7, you can add it to task scheduler, have it start at the logon of any user.
