Windows 8 Enterprise RTM 64-bit opinions04 August 2012, 11:21 (9 months ago)
Hi all,
I am currently doing some OS testing with various distributions e.g. Linux , Windows etc. I'm just curious as to what everyone's thoughts were on the new Windows 8 Enterprise RTM leaked out before its Oct release. My thoughts on it are that it should just stay as a Tablet OS instead of a main PC OS. How ever it have found it easier 2 navigate (takes getting used too). Also it has some cool features, Automatic maintenance for the PC + an easy file / folder encryption (Bit locker) + many other cool features. Share your thoughts and opinions please. P.S It wont be worth the price people will have 2 pay. CodeBlaze1781
It's slightly faster than Win7 and moreover it got many new features like easy image mounting etc. The annoying metro UI can be turned of using the MetroUI tweaker
Can it be disabled? I read somewhere that in this latest release METRO can NOT be disabled.
BTW, Congratulations on your 1000. post ![]() Last edited by cesmadj1934, 9 months ago i dont know maybe im just paranoid but i dont trust these new ones, i feel theres something in there that doesnt like pirates
![]() but i do have a question about this new windows 8. how is it compared to windows 7 when it comes to appearance like themes and graphics? does it support windows 7 themes at all? or does it have its own which is dumb in my opinion Last edited by MOST_WASTED4600, 9 months ago I haven't really tried Windows 8 on a computer except for a little in Virtualbox.
I do think people will be more productive after the first month or so messing with the Metro-interface. It works exactly the same as everything does now, you barely have to think to find your applications and execute them. I see people scrolling like crazy on IPads and pressing the right application without even looking. I think it will be the same with Metro especially if you can scroll your way through. But you just have to give it some time. New things just require you to adjust. Also 7-10 second boot-up is neat. I'm thinking of building a gaming rig on release of Windows 8. Can you answer a few questions for me? What's your general opinion on W8 compared to W7? How easy (if at all possible) is it to get the generic Windows desktop look? this thread is a month old , but maybe there is still interest . i am not a gamer , but i tested windows 8 pro x64 , on an old DELL [ Pentium 4 2.8ghz ] . the old DELL was originally XP 32-bit . the windows 8 pro x64 , actually performed better than windows 7 ultimate 32-bit that had replaced the XP . i never ran any CPU programs . but windows 8 , appeared to require less system resources . which should appeal to gamers . and the windows 8 desktop is almost identical to windows 7 . except for the missing start menu . once on your desktop , click the windows key , on your keyboard . the windows key will jump you back and forth between start and desktop . once i learned this , it all started to make sense .
