So how many are using ubuntu ? Tell me if you like it and even tell us what you dont like about it.

I'm trying to get a feel as I recently installed it as a second operating system on my computer. Is is stable? Is it easy to install software? Is there annoying pop up's seeing it's free, Please leave me your input.

Thanks.

I LOVE IT!!!!!! too bad no one can tell me how to share my LAN connection with my WLAN connection, otherwise i would still be using 10.10! only down side, you can through your PS certs out the door, no PS, but GIMP is easy to use.

if you have any questions.... yell at SABLE!

Its great for pretty much everything except gaming and thats cause most of the gaming companies wont release their products on linux.
There is no popups, its open source and free :)

Ubuntu was put on a netbook that a friend of mine bought, and its ok. Its like a handheld operating system or something. it seems really really compact, but it is completely stable. it won't let you make the changes to it that you can on a windows computer so beginners can't mess it up. It will let you use applications that are made for linux, yes it discludes photoshop, but as mentioned afore, you can use gimp if thats a problem. I recommend ubuntu for older/smaller applications, as it will do everything that you need, aside from gaming and other Windows platform operations. That is why i didn't like it too, I could not get my network set up to pass my musics and movies to my friends ubuntu. There probably is a way, but i gave up. His netbook has a Windows XP Sticker on it, so im not sure why they put ubuntu on it. I guess it got fried, and he didn't have a copy of windows, so he got the "FREE" Ubuntu. If it fits your applications, great! But im sticking to windows.

I use Windows mainly, bit I have a VirtualBox install of Ubuntu 10.10 and it's loads of fun (once you get used to the differences).
I also put Xubuntu on my old shitty Dell laptop; it runs about as smoothly as anything's going to run on that garbage machine.

actually i'm using it this days just from the CD because you can boot from your cd without installing it and you can save your progress if you like too .
but the idea here is to keep it in you pc so what i did before and it works perfect
go get VMware and install it then you can run ubuntu with no problem at all .
