Well they did it again.

Once again the hacker group Anonymous has hacked into crucial websites, messing up our everyday life, while they hide behind masks. A danish union called '3F' website was today closed by these hackers.

A website that ten of thousands Danes use each month to get what we call "Dagpenge".
"Dagpenge" is basically a service you pay for each month, and if you would happen to get fired by your employee you will get money = Dagpenge.

Now the sites are down, which mean that some Danes (including myself) wont get payed for the next pay day. This means I will have to go to the bank and lend money to pay my rent and to be able to eat.

The case is according to a hacker called "Elen0r", that the union 3F wont allow a restaurant in a smaller city to join another union. So because of this conflict we have to suffer.

I used to consider myself an Anonymous supporter in issues like ACTA, but after todays event I think they're a bunch of immature, wimpy nerds. And I ask of them; please, please stop acting like you are fighting for the weak n' justice, when all you do is ruin the economy for so many Danes.

Interesting thread. Anonymous certainly splits people apart, still lively debate is no bad thing, even when the two sides will never see eye to eye.
Personally looking at the original post, 3F wont allow a restaurant to join a different union?!? What do they do run a closed shop for an entire industry in the whole country? That scares me more than anything anonymous have ever done.
The true tragedy of anonymous though is that because of their notoriety I have had to stop using my V for Vendetta avvy - people forget it was a comic character years before anonymous got near a keyboard and I get far too many way out there PM's from politically naive (thats being polite) users when I use V as my online face. OK maybe thats not really a tragedy but it does irritate me. Grrrrrr.

One last serious point to end this epic post. I used to work in a sex offender unit. Prisoners that the press "named and shamed" invariably went underground ASAP so the authorities that DO keep tabs on them were unable to do so. It sounds like a just punishment but it does far more harm than good.

Welcome to KAT AnonKAT8 I have been reading the comments that you have been making since you joined the site and you have most certainly implied that you are indeed connected to the umbrella group Anonymous. You have implied it by intimating that you possess inside information on the intent and disposition of the said group.

 
You will find us to be a very friendly and welcoming group of people here at KAT but we will always call out anyone who appears to be trying to mislead us.
The views that people express on this site are varied and when it comes to the group Anonymous you will find both supporters and critics. Those of us who do choose to criticise do so because “We are not afraid and We are many” and because anyone who really embraced the original ideals of the Anonymous group would support the rights of the ordinary people to speak out openly without fear of reprisal.
I look forward to seeing you become an active contributor to the site.

My impression of "Anonymous" is that they are a typical (well, if there IS anything that is "typical") bunch of vigilantes. Most cultures have vigilante groups at one point or another. The established government authorities in most nations (or communities) make a point of hunting them down and stamping them out! There's good reason for that!

Vigilantes are a "law unto themselves" - they may start out with some "public service" oriented ideals, but generally they move on to self-serving, authoritarian attacks against the communities they "serve". They can become really dangerous, crazy, destructive, and certainly are the more dangerous (and usually, the most ultra-conservative) "rednecks" in town.

So now we finally a got a full-blown "vigilante posse" on the Internet! They're pirates of a whole different color than the guys who hang out in this here KAT Cove! We're a friendly bunch around here, we don't usually run around with our swords & muskets out shooting and slashing anything and everything just cuz we don't like it's color or shape! But them guys... they blow up houses, wreck computers and peoples' lives. Cuz they "know" they're right, and the rest of us are all stupid jerks!

This kinda organization is like a deadly virus in the world community! It needs to be dealt with accordingly!

Infiltrated by government forces? Like the US FBI or the CIA? Or whatever? I suspect that such "forces" are involved in some of the attacks that are occurring - a covert way of waging war on "copyright offender" websites! Among other things!

Sorry what I meant earlier is, if these hackers/hacktivists are so bad destroying organisations and ruining common man's life without contributing in any way to better the freedom of speech on the net, then why do the FBI employ them??

They just step back and accept the fact that " There are times in Life when someone knows more than you and its better to Learn than to Live in denial" !

I'm sorry mate, but there is no way im gonna support the FBI or the CIA on anything .. be proud to be an American YES but be proud of the FBI/CIA no way jose ;)
