What's the best Antivirus or Internet Security for Laptops?
I'm Looking for something that's not a resource hog. I'd like my laptop to run quickly. Free or Paid. I have no morals.... :) Edit: I omitted MSE(Microsoft Security Essentials.) Which was a big mistake on my behalf. For those of you who are still curious about which one is best MSE is a clear winner IMHO. On a personal note, If your looking for a more comprehensive Antivirus Suite, make use of this site and try them all and see which one you prefer. It's all about opinions and your opinion is always the right one. 30 replies before
When I bought my new laptop (Toshiba Satellite) about a year ago, the best AV software I heard of at that time was Kaspersky. I went ahead and bought it and haven't had any trouble with it at all. But one thing I've noticed here is that there has only been one other person ( LordElric848 328 325 ) that has posted that they use it. Is there an issue with it? Does it not work as well as some of the tried and true? Did I spend too much freakin' money??? Kaspersky has been in the top 3 performing Anti-virus apps since many years, almost all independent tests confirm that, just because not many people know about it does not make others better.Norton and Mcafee have been some of the worst performers in independent tests yet more people seen to think they are good. Don't believe me ? check the independent tests for the past 4-5 years - http://www.av-comparatives.org/ I believe you! I was just wondering why it wasn't mentioned but once. I was TOLD it was the best out there at the moment but I didn't know if that was just hooey. use Microsoft's Security Essentials
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials AVG all the way I'm loving the AVG PC Tune up 2011 software though. I'm not fond of AVG, I think its too much of a resource hog. I loved Avast but the piracy warnings are bugging me. AVG slowed my old computer down way too much

Norton and Mcaffee aren't either. Issue with picking the "best avg" is that you will get different picks for everyone. In reality not one is entirely better than the other. If someone says one is good, another will say they had issues with it. For instance, I've used Karpersky and had issues with it not picking things up. Uninstalled it, installed MSE and it found things. In truth all avg's work, it's up to you on how well. Last edited by Pringlescan3583, 8 months ago |
