Hey everyone. In my 3 months of being a proud member of KAT, I've experienced some pretty excessive Rep-Whores (not going to name and names, but there's a ton of them on KAT) Most of them just do it to get fame, achievements, or a promotion to Super User, Moderator, etc. Most of the bad apples I've confronted on this site are rep whores, themselves. How do I know? Well, here it is!
1. Find a user who is maybe trying to gain rep by +1'ing torrents that he or she didn't download. 2. Go to User X's Reputation column on his/her's profile. (using X as a variable to stand for the suspicious user) 3. The Rep-Whores' main tactic is to +1 things that appear in the most popular torrents of the day section, or the homepage, as most people call it. If you see lots of popular torrents on User X's profile, (by lots I really mean, lots, and done on the same day) then User X is most likely a main Rep-Whore. What does this mean? Main Rep-Whore is my term to describe a user on KAT who blatantly just +1's everything that User X can find on KAT to gain rep. To find out if User X is REALLY a main rep whore? -1 something. Anything. It can be a comment, a reply, anything concerning User X. He will "freak out" and maybe decide to go on a rep massacre, meaning he will search any possible thing on KAT and try to gain rep from it, but this usually isn't the case. User X will try to get his rep back the way it was. User X's visit their profile to see how much rep they got, tons of times a day, so it won't take that long, (max. 3-5 minutes if User X is online. If this happens, report it immediately to a Super User, Admin, or Mod. 4.EDIT;NEW CHARACTERISTIC OF REP-WHORES: Also, if you get suspicious of someone who is doing rep-abuse, and you message User X to tell why they think the torrent is fake, there is a 97% chance they will NOT respond. Just a hint for all you mods who are looking at torrents for rep abusers. Q: But what if User X is +1'ing or -1'ing everything User X can find on User Y's uploads or comments? (User Y standing for a victim of rep abuse) That, my friends, is called rep abuse. Lots of people have been muted for this action. Lots of them are also spam-related. This usually doesn't make people rep-whores, but if you're feeling picky, this will do you well! If you see someone +1'ing every upload User Y has uploaded, that is a sign of a Secondary Rep-Whore. You should report that immediately to any Mod, or if there's no mods online, report it to a Super User, they will help you. Well guys, those are my tricks on how to take down Rep-Whores! This is a brief explanation, so if you want me to go over something with you, or have any questions about Rep-Whores or Rep Abuse, just give me a PM! 100 replies before

It's nice to see your blue star count go up, but, it's better when it's "earned" so to say..
It doesn't bother me that they do it, in fact, until this thread post, the though hadn't crossed my mind. I mean, if someone wants to spend their time doing that, just to get some numbers next to their name, power to the people. They could always add another line of code beneath the rep counter, and have one that shows like upload reputation. Just give our uploaders some more credit, and thank them.
