First of all: Congratulations.
I have two daughters (20 & 17). I did not have a plan on how to approach parenting. I muddled my way through and have wonderfully well-adjusted children. There is no secret recipe to being a good parent. Just go with the flow, further your child's interests, open his/her mind to new possibilities, gently direct, but do not push too hard and always give your child the feeling that he/she can talk to you about anything. Your child will not want to talk to you about everything, of course, but knowing that he/she could is important. From what I read in the previous posts you are in a long-term relationship with your child's mother and can provide a stable environment. I'd say you're off to a splendid start. ![]() I wish you all the best, mate. |
