I Think I have a problem.?08 March 2012, 19:00 (1 year ago)
I think I've got a problem with my new HP (Still Unnamed) PC, but I did name my 4 hamsters Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. And of course I colored them Red, Pink, Cyan and Orange on my CPU Meter.
Blinky aka core #1, is spiking in a saw-tooth looking wave. If I restart the PC the spiking stops, but after being on a few hours it starts again. The longer it stays on the higher the spikes will get. I'm planning on changing both the Mobo and PSU as soon as I can, so with all the upgrades I've done already, I'd hate to return it to Walmart. But times running out so I'd need to do it Now if I have to. So I'm wondering if anybody else had this problem, or if They think it'd be hardware or software related? If You didn't read My other posts it's a HP p7-1003w with the AMD 650. Any and All comments are Welcome,(even from the Trolls), I'll be on and off all day today while I'm feeding the Transmorphers 2 Rip. 20 replies before
Spikes were back when I got up this morning. Uninstalled and Re-Upped AVG running in XP SP3, still getting the error message! So Avast or Avira? I had tried Avast a few Years back and didn't like the interface, but I see on Cnet that it's taken AVG's place as #1 in downloads. Give me some idea. I gotta take a few days off again. I would recommend Avast! But it has some sneakies in the installation....the free version. But U jus navigate away from them. It's good software. i restocked and reloaded till i was crazier than usual. finally exchanged. this one has a bleeping red dot on my monitor!!!Not doing it again. Well I STILL have the spike on core 1.!!
i'm not A Neurotic Ferret,, I'M THE Neurotic Ferret when it comes to my ship.. Only programs are MS, HP and Shields. I run AnyVC, Freemake, etc., etc, out of documents. Since its only blinky thats spiking,(pinky, inky and clyde) are all flatlined, it's got to be the bios version,?? think i need to find the oldest bios version for this board. "Lagniappe idles on all 4 cores" "Borg.2 makes both gimpy and squeaky dance". Sorry for typos-misspelling and all that. Hurting a LOT. spent the last 4 hrs removing crap like amazon. blio, hulu etc. hulu not bad, blio only 3 places, but amazon had the complete progran in more than 4 places. run uninstall.?? Sure but thats only one of them! Gotta hit a coupla more, then gone back to troll land. I've managed to tame the spikes, but with the brain damage, I'm just not able to get into the Win7 OS and stop them completely. I was stupidly searching "CPU Spikes" and all the hits were from having a bug. Not from WmiPrvSE.exe.
Now, by looking on the MS Site and www.sevenforums.com for a "Fix" for the problems coming from WmiPrvSE.exe, it looks like for more than the last 6 months, Nobody else has been able to find a cure. I've deleted as much of the Bloatware as I could find, But, there are so many extensions etc. that I don't have any idea what they're for.? Now I know why I stayed with the slow, power-eating Vista 32 so long, It only had one copy of each thing instead of 2 to 4.! So for now, I just SAS then restart D.Troll B4 sleep, then I'll restart Her again when I wake up. Core 1 usage cycles above and below a 15% line after idling all night or day. So I'm not worried about burning core 1, or running up the electric bill anymore. So if any "SuperGeek" has a little spare time, can you take a look at the Four WmiPrvSE.exe programs and let Me know if I can stop anything? Every time I try something, I end up with the core 1 spiking back to 60%+. Forgot to say the spikes occur about every 5 seconds. Got some movement back in my left hand, so if it stays that way I'll be around every few days. |
