Say KAT was going to live up to its name and really start kicking ass and some of the fantastically smart people who hang out here put their heads together to figure out how to save the world, how would they did it? What kind of party platform would they create?

I keep getting bumped off the thread list. I'm hoping there are guys or gals out there with 160+ IQs and matching testosterone levels(or estrogen levels, does it work that way?) who are going to get wind of my plans and start swaying their branches of the tree of life in the right direction.

Energy is really my biggest concern. We can't continue into the future with the same means (coal, oil, nuclear) that has gotten us to this point nor can we turn back the clock somehow and return to a simpler time.
We need a KAPP solution that will give us all the energy we need for the expanded comforts of the third world which doesn't overheat the climate or pollute the atmosphere, the oceans or the earth itself. The only solution that I can see is to construct an energy producing shade field in a solar orbit (in the Lagrange sweet spot between the earth and the sun) that serves the double purpose of providing shade to the planet (where and how much solar energy hitting the planet at our fingertips) and of collecting solar energy and converting it to finely focused microwave beams that are then directed onto dishes to heat up steam turbines that then create electricity. (Talk about creating jobs!)
The technologies exist that could create such an industry. This is not something I am inventing. The main problems are political. The United States is realistically the only country that could assume the leadership in a worldwide effort to create such a thing (industrially, financially, scientifically) but at present our popularity has slipped so low that other nations would not trust us to have such control over the rest of the planet. To offset this very real dilemma, the project must be overseen by the United Nations and the tasks divided among other nations. I would divide them thusly: (English language based) The United States, Europe and South America would be responsible for the construction and operation of the actual solar shield. (Chinese language based) China, India, Japan and Southeast Asia would be responsible for a large scale space station in a high earth orbit which would serve as a work platform which would receive parts and materials from earth and (perhaps) the moon and assemble them for transport away from earth. (Russian language based) Russia and West Asian nations would be responsible for the establishment of a large scale, self-sufficient colony on Mars.
In discussions with those who know of such things, it has been pointed out to me that the cost of such a project would be prohibitive. (As if we can put a price tag on endless clean energy for all eternity.)
Let me point out:
A. Firstly we have not designed transportation specifically for this purpose. Our space programs do not differentiate between non-compressible and compressible (i.e. human) loads. They were designed during the cold war and part of their design was dependent upon the propaganda, the pageantry, that was inherent in this endeavor and so we have overlooked the pure genius of Jules Verne who proposed using ballistic capsules shot to the moon through canons thereby greatly reducing the amount of fuel carried aboard at liftoff but subject to otherwise deadly g forces. (Remember Saddam's Big Gun?)
2. Furthermore, today we are hand producing space vehicles that are the equivalent of Rolls Royces (which are priced out of this world) when we know full well that Volkswagens can and do work just as well.
B. Lastly, by our nationalistic bickering we are squandering manpower and resources by not allowing the free flow of information that we Americans (and Russians) have accumulated in our space research so that China and India and Japan and other nations must continually reproduce experiments that we have already done.
It will be like the earth putting out leaves in the springtime. Cool, no?

I'm kind of busy today so just a quickie. How about a new holiday called Revelation Day? It would provide a platform for our President bring one of our national skeletons out of the closet. For example, some future President might actually tell us who killed JFK. (If you've read Greenfield Chronicles you'll know my take on this but this is hardly the official version.)
I think it would be a cool precedent to set. God knows we have plenty of secrets that need to be aired out. Presidents would be rated as either courageous champions of the truth (the one who fesses up about JFK) or cowardly hucksters if all they do on Revelation Day is run up the queen's knickers.
I think October 10th would be a good day for a new holiday.

So as to appease and redress harm, slights and damages and rectify interim political solutions which have resulted in the financial and geographical dislocation of the populations of Palestine and Israel in the aftermath of the World Wars of the last century, and in recognition of the sacrifice which has been required of these two nations for the good of all mankind and the preservation of peace on this planet these Provisional Articles are intended.
2. By the grace of God and by the Signatures hereto attached it shall come to pass that in one generation comprised of twenty solar years measured from the completion of these Provisional Articles, the Sovereign State of Palestine shall be declared and recognized as an independent nation with full diplomatic, military and commercial rights which are the inherent emblems of statehood.
3. The Territories and Boundaries describing the State of Palestine shall be defined by resolution by the United Nations, the entirety of which shall be transferred into Palestinian possession within ten solar years measured from the completion of these Provisional Articles in an orderly progression allowing for property and real estate transactions, disposition of settler colonies, strategic military and defense issues and geo-political concerns to be adjudicated where the General Assembly of the United Nations shall be deemed the Court of Final Appeal.
4.
