At a Theater in Aurora, Colorado there are reports of a mass shooting during the midnight premiere of the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises". Reports so far say 14 are confirmed dead and up to 20 injured.
What is the USA coming to? Why is our Country so violent? What will be next, metal detectors at movie theaters? I am seriously angry about this. You can't feel safe anywhere anymore. Anyone else have thoughts on this? 150 replies before

Honestly it's pretty sad that people here are putting blame on the government, laws and what not. People died. Who cares about laws and the government. They didn't pull the trigger. They didn't buy this guy guns. They didn't walk into a crowded theatre and start shooting. Blame the dude who did all those. Grow up people and stop placing needless blame.
He also was in college getting his PHD in Neuroscience and was withdrawing from that program at the time this happened. He had no record and just got a speeding ticket last year. As for gun control, think back to the prohibition, see how that worked. Also... Guns don't kill people, people kill people. very well said
Gun Laws and regulation WILL NOT WORK. Because criminals don't follow the law. It's not that complicated of a concept to comprehend. If you ban guns in America, the criminals will still be able to get the guns from somewhere else. So now you just have armed criminals and terrorist versus unarmed citizens.

Hurray for the 4th amendment. My heart goes out to the relatives, but this merely proves (once again) that being allowed to carry and keep guns is incoherent. I know that a lot of people who think that is true. BUT. Georgia Tech University is located in Atlanta near Coke"s home office where I did several computer contracting gigs. It is Surrounded by low income neighborhoods. The have a no gun policy and are having very many break ins in the student dorms for what ever reason. If the students were suddenly allowed to have guns and that fact was publisized, what do you think to the breakin rate? Virginia Tech had the same problem. An Apalacian college had an incident and one of the students was carrying and blew the perp away before he could do widespread violence. Perhaps it's time America had a rethink about gun laws & tightened up on controlling who is allowed a weapon. ![]() New Law 5 yrs in prison minimum for carry an unlicenced gun. That wouldn't have changed anything in this instance. It has already been reported he bought the guns legally. To me the problem is WHY is it legal to own assault rifles or semi automatic weapons? Guns used for hunting are fine, imo. What needs to be cracked down on are the guns that serve no other purpose than to kill. If someone says "Well, that's my hobby" then I'm sorry...get another hobby. artl1734

Don't forget that the perp knew how to make chemical weapons and bombs. If he didn't have the gun on him, he could have just as easily set off one of those things in the theater. There is no amount of regulation that can prevent that unless you make things such as fertilizer illegal as well.
We just have to accept the fact that this is an isolated event and that we have sick individuals amongst us. We need a better way to determine who those people are and get them the help they need before stuff like this happens. Raijin15301

And the police is just for show! Take the law in your hands!!!
I guess crazed mobs with guns running around shooting at suspected terrorists is what you want! Nice attitude... ^^^THIS IS YOUR AMERICA GUYS^^^ ![]() Do you all understand that the reason the US const and bill of rights gave the citizens the right to bear arms? It was to allow them to protect themselves from the government! When Hitler began grabbing power in Germany one of the first things he did was convince the German citizens to give up their guns, look where that got them in the next several years. What a peaceful place that turned out to be.

You didn't read my comment.
I was speaking of guns as a deterrent. Psychopaths feed on the helplessness of others. And you're assuming too much. A huge firefight may be probable. What's also probable is a quick and efficient end to a situation. Psychopaths and Sociopaths are 2 entirely different things, a psychopath is a secluded often mentally unstable person which others will see the instability in. A sociopath will walk up to you have a full intellectual conversation, invite you back to his/her house and then presume to render your flesh while quoting philosophy and poetical works. Look at Ed Gein he was the secluded Psychopath now look at Ted Bundy he was a sociopath. I think this guy was a Sociopath seeing he was in college and had the smarts to create intricate trap systems.

WOW, Hitler comes into the game...
Sorry dude go shoot something, a deer or two and exercise your right! The Bill of rights was written at the time of the Wild West. The same Wild West that happened in that theater just now. Go to France, Germany or UK and ask them where nazi gun prohibitive laws took them? |
