Hello all!
Recently I've been trying to decide if I would like to go on one of those sites where you use real money online for poker. I've been playing a lot of poker and I tend to take it seriously and by playing a lot I mean playing alone via app for free money. I have enough confidence to want to go forward by taking the next step up and play for real money online. Does anyone here have any experience with that at all? I'm worried that the games will be somehow fixed, or that it could be a scam or something. I've never done it before.
I've turned $5,000 fake money into a good 4.5 million before I stopped trying and just went for crazy all ins for fun but I would love to play with real money if it's the same way all the while being 100% legit.
If it's legit, could anyone tell me the best website to go about it? I would really like to know. And this is a one time thing for me, if I fail the first time I'm done because I'm not a gambler, marijuana is a big enough addiction for me if you ask me. I would like to put forward $250 and see what I can turn it into whenever I get the chance to do it assuming it's legit.
I appreciate your thoughts and advice in advance. Thank you!

Honestly? The best option is to forget online gambling all together. Do you really want to willingly give any financial information online to site that basically has no oversight?
I love poker too. But if I play online, it is for free. Put together a real game with some buddies or co-workers. Have good liquor and cigars. have some bad food and a good time. If you are gambling for any other reason then having a good time, you are doing it wrong.

the computer program is designed to keep your money whilst entertaining you for hours. it's like slot machines, you will ALWAYS lose. the longer you play the greater your chances of losing are.

Most people use a Credit Card for online gambling
so they are already using someone else's money
Many people play for very low stakes until they are cofident
then they start playing with larger stakes
but when they loose instead of learning a valuable lesson and giving up
they gamble even more to try to win back what they have lost
and because they are using credit cards they initially dont see it as a big problem as they are not loosing money out of their pocket
but soon comes the realisation that there is a large credit card debt
often people try to solve the problem by trying to win the money to pay the debt
but ultimately this just makes the problem worse and worse

I dont feel like telling my complete life story here. But I have been through all the stages of poker. At one point I was living the highlife (penthouse on maui etc etc) however there is always a dark side to things which I came to learn. This is not ment to discourage you but you need to go into this with a cool head and realistic expectations. Most people lose and thats a fact.
My first advice is to ignore any success you had with free money play because thats useless in real poker. You know the rules of the game but thats pretty much it. Start by reading some different authors in poker strategy and implement it in your game. Could probably write a novel here about do's and dont's. If you have something specific questions - you can ask me by pm.
Good Luck
Michal

So its fair to assume thats no longer the case and there's a cautionary tale to tell

If you are considering playing poker online then make sure of four things.
1: The door is locked.
2: You possess a gun.
3: Make sure you do not have a vice in the garage.
4: Keep an eye out for Joe Pesci (no pun intended). titter
