Hi folks,
Hope everyone is having a good night / day. This is my first dealings with torrent files / websites. I'm looking for a little help, suggestions or flat out directions.

I downloaded a couple of torrents from here. I let them do their thing and downloaded some video. Well, when I went to look at them, I got the correct audio, but no video. instead I got a screen of "fractals" or whatever they are called. They are AVI files. I tried to play them in windows media player. The pic below is what I see. Did I do something wrong or do I need to use a different type of player?
Thanks for any help offered.

Just downloaded VLC and got it installed. Tried one file and it played fine.
webRG, Thanks for the link to convertxtodvd.
Roger, I'd like to upgrade it to 7. What youre suggesting sounds like it is a little over my head. I'll look into it though.
Thanks again folks

Man you folks are quick. Thanks!!
Yes it is vista. Got laptop from a friend. About 2-3 yrs old.
I tried it in windows media player then quicktime. QT said I needed additional program for this media. I will look into the VLC player.
Would it have to be converted to different format to burn to DVD? Will VLC convert it as well?
Thanks again

if the torrent is legit, then use vlc like others sugested, but if you want burn avi files on dvd,you don't need to convert anything...most(if not all) dvd players play avi files.
you should let us know what torrent you downoladed,as it can be fake.

Thanks for all the additional replies folks.
Zagreb, Thanks for the heads up on DVD players playing AVI files. The guy that showed me this site just told me he burned them as AVI and did not convert them.
The torrent I downloaded can be found here

well mate, that torrent has all files in mp4 format...if you want to watch them on your dvd player, you need to convert them in avi...or just download that torrent where is already all in avi format, for example this torrent of all seasons- http://kat.ph/sons-of-anarchy-season-1-to-4-t6064296.html
