Regardless if how morally justified you are in your grand sweeping social programs, shouldn't you propose them when the country isn't in a multi trillion dollar deficit? Do you go and buy a new car when you're 30 grand in the hole?
*sigh* I'm going to be really happy come November, Obama will be gone and decent well-meaning people left of center can stop engaging in this willful ignorance on behalf of a hijacked political party. Last edited by ventanger19, 10 months ago You could take 100% of the incomes of the top 2% earners in the country and it would pay off .001% of the deficit. You'd also have a permanently demolished economy and a fundamentally broken sense of opportunity. But hey, IT'LL MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD SO LET'S DO IT. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Just because YOU can't see the value of public health care or a president who cares about something besides fattening the wallets of the rich and powerful, does not mean everybody feels the way you do. There is a huge groundswell of people who DO like the President and are working hard to make sure he stays in office. The vote is not all in, so your premature smugness might just result in your embarrassment and dismay! // You would suggest that we all just postpone deciding this critical issue until the country can "afford it"? And when would that be... sometime after the sun goes super nova and Atlantis rises from the sea? There will always be major problems with funding for anything that requires serious public and private sector attention. There's always something else that needs to be done first. We've put off dealing with this issue far too long. // The "Let's talk about it later... when we're all rich, retired and not busy" tactic has been used to deny minorities decent treatment, deny gays decent treatment, deny women equal pay for equal work, deny people health care, jobs, and all kinds of amenities that we love to regard as essential to a decent life. // It won't fly this time, Sir ... the health care inequities and costs in this country have been an issue for years, and the issue has truly become a crisis now. You can't postpone a crisis until the weather improves or the budget is balanced! A crisis must be dealt with NOW! The time for us to deal with this crisis has been NOW for quite some time. // No more excuses will be tolerated. As I have already said... if the government does not deal with this issue now in a fair, humane and responsible way - there will be "unforeseen" consequences. And those consequences can get bloody, destructive, and they won't wait until the sun is shining and we've balanced the budget! // Coffee, anyone? ![]() I feel bad for you both for thinking your Republican candidate is a "shoo-in" for the presidency! Until the votes are all tallied and the winner decided... he is not!
// And if by chance he does get elected, hopefully we shall live through it. But the health care issue will NOT go away just because your candidate is not in favor of dealing with it. It will not go away just because "all the king's horses and all the king's men" decide to toss out all public health care initiatives. The issue will not "disappear" .. it will only grow worse - and the consequences will grow worse. // And then.. when your taxes skyrocket through the roof, regardless of the lies you've chosen to believe coming from your chosen party, I will feel sorry for you as you come here to raise unholy Cain about that! // I'm below the radar. My income is so small I don't pay taxes anymore. I just hope the Republicans don't suck all the Social Security funds right out of the bank and discontinue providing for the elderly poor.
