Hey wrong user link good luck with all that. I have met many inner city crack heads and heroin addicts who come from generations of welfare recipients and have complete Fed/State medical coverage. And for the record, it's these bottom feeders who I am against. They are criminals who cost society billions of dollars. Then there are honest Americans like you who struggle to find health care. I'm not convinced this new law will mean you have access to the care you need but I wish you the best of luck.
. And Bayfia, not even sure how to respond to someone who doesn't even have a basic understanding of Obamacare yet is in here ranting all over the map. I can only guess that posting emotional drivel serves as some form of therapy. I am trying to be respectful in my posts here but you are certainly not extending the same courtesy. I'm not American, and I don't know details of the Bill...but I think it would be similar what we have in Europe, health care for everyone?..if that's the case,I support it...you can't have 30 plus milion people without basic health insurance... It's nothing like that. It's just a tax. One of the largest increase in American history, which you can write off if you can prove you have health insurance. It does nothing to fix the problems with health insurance except for incentivises companies to increase their costs and to do exactly what they're doing at a lower overall quality. When it was being passed it was sold over, and over, and over again, that this isn't what it was going to be, and now it's exactly that. Ridiculous. you need to get informed a little better. It is not a tax. You can learn more here. Out of the 30 million Americans who do not have insurence, many work more than one job but either cannot afford the premiums or their employer keeps them just below the hours needed to qualify for insurence. These people pay taxes, probably more than one who works one midle-class tax bracket job and has insurence. Of course, change is difficult, especially when living in a society that has been taught for more than a century, that anything socialized is a BAD THING... Well, there is very little socialization about this. This is just fair medicine. I paid about $100 a month to have insurence, when I changed jobs (not company, just location) they cut me off. Unfortunately, during that 3 month forced break I got sick and should have been hospitalized. I was lucky enough to work in the healthcare field and knew plenty of octors and nurses who heped me recover free of charge. Later, I discovered that the CEO of the insurrence company got annual bonuses (with my money!!!)
![]() ![]() There will always be those who don't help to pay into the system for whatever reason, but I am willing to help out as I would hope someone would return the favor to me if needed. I am an American but live in Europe. Believe me, after experiencing the relief of delivering two children, recieving proper medical attention in an emergency situation without the fear of having to pay and not being turned away for not having insurrence, I am truly grateful and proud of this new plan. Go Obama!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() see video and read about it here: www.whitehouse.gov or read about it at NPR Last edited by little D3847, 10 months ago I'm not American, and I don't know details of the Bill...but I think it would be similar what we have in Europe, health care for everyone?..if that's the case,I support it...you can't have 30 plus milion people without basic health insurance... "If you drive a car you are forced to buy insurance so if you hit someone you can pay the costs. Same idea with the health insurance mandate. If you don't buy health insurance you are going to get hurt or get sick at some point in the future and then you will show up at the emergency room and then all the people who have insurance pay higher premiums because they have to absorb your costs. It isn't that complex"
it's also another option for health coverage besides private insurance, which may (we'll see), at this point in it's provisions (it was not passed as law, only parts of its whole were mandated by court ruling), create competition in the market and as a result, lower premiums for the insured. Looking at this can be both complex and really simple.
Americans love freedom and don't want to be told what to buy. And because we are lazy too. . The more complex look at it shows small businesses will suffer from skyrocketing health insurance for their employee's. Most businesses usually pay 50% of health insurance premiums so the employee doesn't have the full burden. . This may be something okay for Corporations, but if corporations don't make enough profit, they will start laying off people so the CEO can get his $50 million bonus each year. . I think health insurance is a good thing to have, but I don't think people and businesses should be forced to have it. If so many people really want free health care, they could easily move to another country. Canada wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't winter all year round. Car insurance is not a forced requirement. You can drive a car on your own property without it. BUT if you want to drive on public roads and highways, the owners of those roads require that you have insurance in order to protect others who are using their roads etc.
If the law goes all the way as written, all of the insurance companies will stop health insurance because of the lower insurance rates that will be paid for by taxpayers and borrowing from other countries. I wonder how many of the insurance companies employees will loose their jobs. Well, if you pay $100 a month for heatlh insurance and go to the doctor 1 or 2 times a year and it cost them $50 a visit, you can see who is getting money without doing much.
Same for Car Insurance, I pay $80 a month and they have only had to pay out $50 in the last 6 years (and that was for towing my car to the repair shop). The wall street protesters are against people making money without actually doing much. But they still support Obama even though he is making insurance companies richer than ever. Last edited by AncientRome8271, 10 months ago Well I don't know exact details to how it is in the US, but in Canada, this is how it works: Everyone has free health care and part of your taxes go towards paying for it. I love the way it works and wouldn't change it for the world. Even though people keep whining about taxes being high (and they kinda are insanely high in most canadian provinces), I find it doesn't matter since it comes right back to you through social programs. (ex: you don't have to go in huge amounts of debt when trying to pay for college and university)
