I try not to talk... unless I am using a microphone with talk activation, out of game on a 3rd party client like Teamspeak. Less talk more game! :) After all, a game was never made to be a chat room... Typing out comments and responses in a chat window while trying to deal with mobs is a real stinker! For sure! And you really can't travel across country while typing like that very well. I'd rather use Teamspeak or Ventrillo and my headset mic to talk, but you can't do that real well in a big group, like a raid group or an Ops group in Star Wars The Old Republic either. You get in big raids, the raid leader orders everybody to shut up and speak only when spoken to. No easy solutions for this. Hate to tell you this Wilds, but the days when an MMO was a "game" and "just a game" are gone. These days, MMO's are BIG social networks! People meet in game and end up meeting in life. I've been to weddings (5 of them)(and a funeral) in Everquest 2 many times (the funeral was for REAL - the gamer had died in a car crash, he was a very active gamer and guild member - there was considerable discomfort at his sudden loss! His brother came on to let us know what happened to him (he wasn't even an EQ2 player!!) So if you don't participate that's fine - but you're also missing out. So says I... anyway ![]() Last edited by Bayfia12213, 10 months ago I try not to talk... unless I am using a microphone with talk activation, out of game on a 3rd party client like Teamspeak. I like to talk when playing games because you have better teamwork when you can quickly communicate. I always say "if you're typing, you're not playing" Though when I'm on my TS server I do hate when people don't talk when they have mics. Sorta counter-productive. I thrive off teamwork! gives me a sense of achievement, don't you think? |
