setting up ICS from one(XP) to other(win7) computer [solved]25 July 2012, 16:54 (9 months ago)
as title say i need to create internet connection sharing from my laptop to PC and i need some guideline.As my internet connection is down im forced to borrow some internet from my neighbor but i need to relay it in to my PC,now on him i don't have wireless card so i need to connect him with cable on my laptop but the thing is lapy is on XP pro sp3 and on pc i have windows 7 and i can't conect them to work so i could use internet on pc but trough laptop.I have tried to set fixed IP address on laptop as no1 192.168.0.1 and on pc no2 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 250.250.250.0 and on pc gateway same as IP of the laptop and it doesnt work and by now im really frustrated if anyone out there knows where did i gone wrong pleas step forward my uploads are on hold until i get this sorted!!
1. Connect your laptop with your desktop through a switch and setup static IP addresses for these two computers (192.168.0.1 for laptop, 192.168.0.2 for desktop)
2. Configure your laptop to bridge the network from wireless to wired network 3. Configure you desktop and set the default gateway to the IP address of your laptop (192.168.0.1) and set DNS of your desktop to the same value as the auto DNS of your laptop.. 4. Adjust whatever sharing configurations you previously had to compensate for the changes you have just made. Should work? Good luck to you |
