i've been looking everywhere for a few decent games that i could really get into but found none sadly and ideas would be appreciated greatly.

Have you tried Resident evil? The first 2 are the best however they are PS1. and there is a remake for the first one for the gamecube and wii. Evil dead? there's one for the ps2 and I don't know if they made others.

There are not many games like Fallout which is what made it so popular, most post apocalyptic type games are FPS but there are a few, maybe check out Borderlands its open world like Fallout but not as many RPG elements.

Rage is really good, but it's freaking short, and I should know how much it sucks. It sucks that I spent actual money on it :( but for free you couldn't go wrong :)

Planescape Torment, It's not fps. But if you give it a chance it will run your life for at least a month if your dedicated to beating it. I beat the first Baldurs gate when I was a kid and then neverwinter nights later. I just got Torment and can't stop. And you can get it on Kat. Just look up Baldurs gate then go to complete collection torrent. Just download Torment, unless you haven't played the others. Its all top down but all amazing.

Are you talking about PC RPG's here? If so then try Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Its similar to how Fallout 3 plays in terms of missions and stuff, but you get to choose with vampire clan you come from (sort of like stealth, weapons guy, s**t guy etc).
Looks like s**t and buggy as f**k, but its an RPG favourite for most PC games. Between me and you though, PC games seem to love playing s**t games, but don't tell anyonme I said that.

Vampire Masquerade - Bloodlines is an excellent game, set in New York... and based upon the earlier PC Game "Vampire - Redemption". It's darker, bloodier, more sinister than Redemption was. Came out in 2004. Excellent recommendation!
