I have 2 gt8800's and are still working on an MSI (sucks) mobo, P7N Platinum. The board can do an SLI and a Tri-SLi. PROBLEM: No more SLi. I can't even use any of my 2 cards in the Primary PCIE Slot. Now I'm only using one (gt8800 factory OC) on the 2ndary PCIE. Any tips for me to help me restore that primary PCIE so I can do an SLi again? (thought you should know, the Mobo displayed when a brand new entry level card was tested in it. Weird isn't it?

Would really appreciate any help or tips to get that darn PCIE 1 working again. Thanks in advance.

If I buy an entry level Mobo socket 775 (q9450 cpu) would the 2nd pcie slot be used to plug in my 2nd GT8800 to be used as my physx card?

If possible don't spend money on something like this we'll try to make it work first.
I am not sure if there is much of a benefit in using a dedicated GPU only for PhysX when you can just use SLI and let the driver sort which card to use for PhysX. Here is a discussion on the topic http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/297429-15-dedicated-physx

Yes, I understand. Thank you. I'll take your word for it. And yeah, I'm scratching my brain how to bridge the gab between PCIe2 and PCIe3.... scratch scratch scratch.... I don't know if there are any SLi bridges for sale those soft ones. ribbon wire like ones. I guess u know what I mean?
BUT im still wondering why my primary PCIe (1) would not display on my old card but on a new card.
By The way, that new card that we tested in the shop? remember i mentioned the testing? That card did not have a power connector on it. just straight through plug into the PCIe slot.
I am yet to try out the power sockets and switch em out and try each of them that are available.
I bet it's the 6 pin connector :) That might be why a low power card worked and the 8800GT did not.
Yes you can buy a SLI bridge for a few $.

DAAAAMN, just looked at newegg and it's 20$ for a SLI bridge! Nuts! shocked

There isn't. Any new cards have PhysX already built in.

They do, but there was/is a trend where people would dedicate a second or a third graphics card just to handle PhysX. Usually an older card does the job just fine. But I don't see a benefit as PhysX in games is not much of a load for newer cards.
BTW, PhysX is NVidia only!

WOW! thanks for going all the way to check the manual out. thanks cesmadj!
But there might be a problem though. The distance between PCIE2 & PCIE3 is shorter BUT, between PCIE1 & PCIE2 is just right for a solid SLi bridge, yeah my SLi bridge is one of those hard ones. PCB board solid. so wont bend hence won't get connected in a shorter distance. got any options? would like to hear about them.

Damn... If you were closer I'd send you one of the bendable kind. Well at least just try if both cards work when in slot 2 and 3 then just buy a bendable SLI bridge later wink
huhuhuhu crycrycrycrycry i need a bendable sli bridge...

i seriously doubt there are some sold here separately. but i'll try to look for one.
or ask some of my friend to swap with mine. the bendable and the solid works the same right? even for newer released cards? i don't wanna bs my friends just to get what i want.

It used to be. You can get a patch that is made to work with ATi GPU's.

It is an older article, but its till a good piece of info.

Nevadabiggrinbiggrinsincity,north of it. you?
but im not in the mainland right now, sweatim in the south pacific as of now.cry
U got several flexible SLi interconnects lying around?!! that's great news! i'm arranging a package (in a couple of months from now) to be sent here to me in the southpacific. maybe we can do this? yeah? that would be super awesome!
We can exchange info and you can have it mailed at any pickup point in "sincity" or at the address at any moment you please. They'll receive or pickup that tiny package and pack it in the box for me.

I know what you are saying, but you still need NVidia card to actually do the PhysX. It's an intresting solution if you have a spare Nvidia card around like Android262648 does.
