@tintapper- reminds me of that movie "pay it forward." simple acts of kindness could make a difference. i think that could still work I sort of understand what you mean. simple acts of kindness. but really ,it should be simple acts of common sense. I live well, I guess. I really want for nothing. But. But meaning, i do what I can. I throw out less then one bag of garbage a week. Half full. I have three recycle boxes. They are all full. Everything that is recyclable, gets recycled. He!! I'll admit it, I'm a Scot! I'm cheap! I actually pick stuff and fix it to use. I actually have a three speed fan in my place that I bought back in the 80's I've fixed it at least three times. I won't throw it out until I can't. I drive a diesel truck. I Drive a Toyota Hybrid. Yes,I have several older restored vehicles, but I try to limit the impact. It's like a story I heard. An old man was spotted walking along a beach picking up starfish and throwing them back into the sea. someone spotted him doing this along the same beach every night over a long period. Finally someone said to him. why are you doing this. He answered, because I want to make a difference. The guy said but you have to understand, there's a hundred beaches with a thousand starfish on a hundred different beaches. What makes you think you are making a difference? He picked up a starfish and threw it into the ocean. I made a difference with that starfishes life.
The start of the end for Metallica? Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning were epic! Can't argue with that either. dont forget ...and justice for all Tintapper1567

all the technology of making life a lot easier sure isnt helping change us Lol. we getting lazier and lazier everything automated and done for us with a push of a button. but then even if a problem does arise we have so many smart people who deal with them right away. we getting lazier but also smarter i think we will be fine. until december 22 2012 lol
I am reminded if a book entitled "The Machine in the Garden". And another book, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Mechanics". Both books make a strong statement about the value, the necessity, to fix what is broken, preserve what can be preserved, and throw away only what has been well used up... to make as small an impact on our great Mother Gaea as possible. To love and honor the earth we live on, for it is the ONLY world where we can live in this galaxy. We are living in Paradise, and we should be treating it as such!
Oh.My.God. I am so going to love this thread. I think a list will be sufficient for now.
Things wrong with the world: 1.Money and everything that goes with that. 2.TV and everything that goes with that 3.Advertising. 4.Politics. 5.Our extreme laziness when it comes with solving what's wrong with the world. 6.Conspiracy theories are an extremely misguiding phenomenon that has to stop if we are to see the truth. UFOs, mermaids, BigFoot, and other useless conspiracy theories are POINTLESS to our development as a species. Our society does not need any of the things listed above. Want to learn more? Research movements like the Zeitgeist Movement which I'm part of and the Venus Project which I'm also part of. DONT YOU THINK THAT THE WORLD HAS TOO MANY BAD GOVERMENTS?
Its because there are too many bad greedy people.Look at the mining industry it kills everything around it,Animals,Plants,Rivers and in some countries even Cultures and thats just one industry allowed by government.eg The Ok Tedi Mine operates to extract copper-gold porphyry from an open pit mine in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. The Ok Tedi environmental disaster associated with it, due to the annual discharge of millions of tons of mining waste, has harmed the environment and livelihood of 50,000 people who live on or near the Ok Tedi River. This mining pollution, due to the collapse of the Ok Tedi tailings dam system and the lack of a proper waste retention facility, has been the subject of class action litigation, naming Ok Tedi Mining Limited and BHP Billiton and brought by local landowners. Villagers downstream from Ok Tedi in the Fly River system in the Middle Fly District and the southern and central areas of the North Fly District, in particular, believe that the effect on their livelihood from this disaster far outweighs the benefits they have received from the mine's presence in their area.I could list heaps of these-the rich get richer and the poor suffer.
