Wanted to get a feeling for what everybody thinks about the Total Recall remake that is coming out this week. And if anybody is actually planing on spending money to see it.

Personally, I hope the film is a HUGE flop at the box office so that maybe Hollywood will finally get the message to stop remaking classics. You can't improve on an already great film. Especially by trying to add to or change an already brilliant script and story by throwing 10's of millions of dollars worth of special effects at it. I have yet to see a "remake" that was anywhere near as good as the original. More often than not they completely ruin it by either trying to add back story to the original material. Or they just completely change the story and add little "see what we did there" references to the original. They should just digitally remaster the originals and add remastered digital sound then re-release the originals in theaters. There are tons of movies I would pay +$10 to see again in all their glory on the big screen. I am betting there are plenty of others that would too. What do you guys think?

So now that the movie has been released, I want to hear from some you who have seen it and what your opinion is. How does it hold it's own compared to the original? Would you recommend it to others?

It the decade of remakes, really this didnt surprise me. I was actually wondering when they'd get around to it honestly.

When I first heard.. I was shocked and said it'll suck. Then I heard what the story was going to be.. How they are rewriting it. That pissed me off because I hate when they completely rewrite a story for a remake. Like Clash of the Titans.. But now I'm kind of just on the edge for this one. I'm going to wait to pass judgement after I see it =P Hopefully it is good.... Loved the eyepopping mars romp that the first one was.

There are some really good remakes but usually they're in the Horror genre (The Hills Have Eyes is an example). I refuse to spend big bucks in a Theater to see an already epic film being remade. Call me cheap but by the time my gf and I get tickets and drinks it's around $30. I can find better ways to spend that cash.

Have not been to a theater since I saw Top Gun. Hope this time the little 3 pack becomes the leader of the planet.

Watched it on SolarMovie.eu and in my opinion it is "Meh!" I'm glad I didn't spend any money to go see it.

It can't replace the original,Arnie's version was kick ass if it had half of the CG in that movie it would been awesome..The second Total Recall was OK,i can appreciate a different take on this remake..Also i opted for the matinée it was just $5 bucks,didn't have so much to lose if it was just terrible ..........

First of all I saw it at home thanks to KAT and the uploader and it was a pretty descent action movie. Was it as good as the original ? No it wasn't but how can you improve on a classic ? Overall I would say good movie
