Comcast has sent a letter before, and now that Demonoid is down, I was wondering if this was safe to use like Demonoid was (RIP). I am scared to get another letter, but am dying to download stuff. Anyone know anything????

First, what's telling you to check the event log (if it's Vuze, I can't help you, not a Vuze user)?
Second, you can use Windows Media Player (WMP) as a media library. Your audio problem may be due to some missing codecs. Grab the K-Lite codec pack and install it. Your WMP problems may disappear.

If you receiving letters from your service provider you should really consider investing in a vpn or seedbox service, its the only way to stay safe.

Not everybody can just up and switch. I live WAY out in a rural area and there are two options...dial up (yeah right) or WiFi with the ONE company that provides it.
To the original poster, just get a paid VPN and make sure it's running when you DL. It'll be a slim chance you'll have any issues that way unless you're downloading massive amounts and then that will still draw attention to you. With a VPN your ISP won't be able to see what you're doing but they can always throttle your speed if you're downing crazy amounts.
