So how many are using ubuntu ? Tell me if you like it and even tell us what you dont like about it.

I'm trying to get a feel as I recently installed it as a second operating system on my computer. Is is stable? Is it easy to install software? Is there annoying pop up's seeing it's free, Please leave me your input.

Thanks.

^they're working on that really. From what I've been reading, they're making significant headway in hardware compatibility in the recent years.

I really like Ubuntu and have 11.04 dual booting on my Win 7 desktop, I have considered going full Ubuntu but a few things stop me from doing so, 1 thing being encoding software not compatable like convertx, dvdfab and a few others and games, I tried to get some apps working with Wine but for some reason the programs would not pick up my dvd writer so are not any good for me :(.
I tried a few Linux alternatives that were recommended in the forums like DeVeDe and such but found them not as good as their Windows counterparts.
Overall Ubuntu is a nice change from Windows and I love the easy layout and use of the OS and the advanced visual features like the desktop cube, wobbly windows, fire and water on screen and so on, it is fun and I will continue to play around with it for fun and to kill boredom.
It is easy to install and configure to what best suits your needs and like what was said on a previous post, Google is your best friend when using Linux :)
I would recommend anyone curious or in need of a change to give Ubuntu a try, even from live cd or easily within Windows, you will not be disappointed. :)

..All im saying is, if linux came with most network drivers installed

Blame facturers that do not developp their drivers for Linux, not the Linux comunity that tries its best to do so on their own. And by the way, last time I had to install Seven on a park, it didn't recognize some printers that Debian did...
or maybe even make some way where it was easier to install them then i would use linux as my main os and never look back.

When drivers exist, mostly, you don't even have to make an install. Like on Seven, when the OS detects a known hardware, it installs it without even noticing it.
To resume: I understnd how you feel when you want to set up an OS on your machine and some problem makes it impossible. Some times it happens with Linux, even with Ubuntu 11 or Mint. How frustrating ! But as we say in french: "don't throw away the baby with the dirty bath water". These problems are beginning to be the exceptions. Most of the times I installed Linux for friends or clients, I didn't have any driver problem.
And I repeat: for those who don't have any habit, they use Linux without any problem, and they don't even know what is a prompt.

I'm on Gentoo at this point, but there is no way that I'll let Ubuntu begind, still use it on my Server, motive ? .. Ubuntu is a 50% plus, used as Server Distro, every six months a new release of Ubuntu which is supported by Canonical, for eighteen months, by security updates, patches to critical bugs and minor updates to programs. Versions LTS (Long Term Support), which are released every two years, are supported for five years in desktop and server.
Want something better?

Other than that, it's Great!

I remember having the same problem. You can't use your wireless connection? It was something about the drivers... Don't remember now. :-/

Drivers are a pain time to time, depends on Version that you have installed, and what are the characteristics of your computer..
BTW what are they?
