Also a free player is, ALPlayer 2.0 (originally named AlShow) which does the same thing as VLC only better and with a much better and sleeker designed interface. Also all video controls can be on on the fly (keyboard commands) without the need to open menus.
We can also capture images, audio, and video. We can pan, zoom, stretch, change playback parameters as well as skip frames backward and forward, replace a section over and over again, mute, hide, and volume with single keys instead of combo keys like in VLC Player.

What are sthe perks with VLC player? I've heard its good to ttake the watermarks out of movies.How so?

For Hi10P anime content, KMP's latest version works well enough. Not sure of any other player to playback said codec.
