When it comes to space exploration, we are still cavemen. We got to the Moon and sent some badass robot to Mars. We also have those automatic doors that swoosh wide open when you get near them, but that's about it. It's cool, but we are far from being the space civilization we'll need to become to survive for millennia.

traveling faster than the speed of light is impossible and will never be achieved a person cant be in two places at once
The speed of light is relative over cosmic and sub-atomic/quantum distances.. It took a long time to convince people that the church was wrong about the sun revolving around the Earth..

Well, apparently that "speed of light" conundrum has been surmounted theoretically, with genuine, serious speculation now about the use of "folds in space/time" to cut through the vast distances of space. Essentially, manipulating the space/time continuum by jumping thru dimensional space. Or so I've read ... but of course, that comes with risks. How will we know when we get to "There" that the "there" we have got to is actually in the same dimension as the "here" we've left behind. I am clueless how that would be tested also.
Warp isn't jumping thru dimensional holes. That would be wormholes. Warp drive would be warping the fabric of space time. And the theory I read has it contracting the fabric in front and expanding it behind. Thus riding the warp like a wave. But the vehicle would remain encompassed in a "bubble" where space time is un altered. So as the compressed space time outside the "bubble" screams past, inside the the relative speed of the vehicle adheres to the Theory of Relativity.
The navigation is still far from being considered.. Last edited by Wldsthrnboy6931, 8 months ago Bayfia12212

I'm not sure you could 'jump' through dimensions.. but there is an area called C-space where energy to matter/matter to energy conversions and transferences occur.. Theoretically it doesn't exist and does at the same time and it only exists in a period of +ALPHA flux/expansion and -ALPHA0BETA flux/contraction. Similar to that of the plasma membrane of a cell, that is where you would travel. Though, you would likely catch a wave to some random point in time if attempted.
They have been sending probes out there since the 80's,it would make sense they did some charting of the local space..

The navigation is still far from being considered.. it's all speculation nothing is proved yes in theory it works, thats like saying in theory you can move the earth if you had a big enough fulcrum and mass to move said fulcrum

I thought this thread was created for said 'speculation'? lol What's the harm in discussing theories on forms of travel in a thread made for it. No need to toss ideas out the window. Even if proven wrong, you'd have to come up with a better theory to dismiss the prior. An idea becomes a hypothesis, a hypothesis becomes an experiment, an experiment becomes an applied theory unless small scale experiments are impractical and then an experiment becomes a theoretical basis to spark more ideas. It is all speculation... Most of the 'facts' we learn in school are in 'fact' still theory and being postulated upon at this very moment.
yes by all means speculate i love science myself but faster than light travel will never happen, how can you meet yourself think about it traveling at the speed of light you would in theory travel into the future all be it for a split second at that time there will be two of you who is the real you are you actually matter
No it is just not theory anymore..they have tested on a very small scale. Creating the tacheon field to produce the fold is in practice..
