According to the statistics provided by Net Applications, for the first time ever Windows 7 has overtaken its older brother Windows XP as the most popular desktop operating software throughout the globe. The operating system appeared to be a little more popular than Vista
![]() CNET has recently released their chart which shows the most popular operating systems in the world, and the chart says that it’s undoubtedly the end of an era. As you remember, XP has ruled the computer world since the beginning of time, with its first users being literally primitive pond life just getting the hang of backbones. Net Applications confirmed that at the end of the last month, the market share of Windows 7 was 42.76%, which is 0.26% more than that of Windows XP (42.5%). In the meantime, Microsoft has seen Windows 7’s share increase by roughly one percentage point every month for around the past year. It has been taking computer users at the same level from Windows XP. As for Windows Vista, its share has remained static at around 6.1% over the past three months. When Windows 8 is released, the popularity of XP will most likely see further decrease. In spite of the claims from the tame Apple press, which said that Cupertino was giving Windows a good kicking, its OSX was only a bit more popular than the obviously unpopular Vista. Indeed, the only way any of the Apple operating systems can be made statistically significant is if they are added all together. The company’s combined share of the desktop market is only 7.11%, while Linux could hardly get a look in and turned out to have been unchanged. It looks like proprietary software holds 99.2% of the computer market, so Linux use seems to have fallen. 10 replies before

ya 7 is best, can do anything you'd need to do plus it looks good. 8 sucks compared to 7 or thats what ppl say anyway. i tried 8 for half an hour, did not like how 7 themes wont work on it so switched back. only thing that could top windows 7 now would be something with holograms
What was so bad about Win8? Can you elaborate? Because I have not tried it yet.
It should deliver better performance, right? Gaming and stuff. If you are referring on looks, I would not mind that myself. I usually turn themes off and switch to classic or that ultra basic look. I don't stare at my desktop anyways. hehehehe. Last edited by Android262648, 8 months ago Android262648
