I am so dissapointed in microsoft. Once again, they managed to make a product that is very repulsive. I love windows xp for programming, but windows 8 is just garbage. They screwed up the desktop majorly. The pc isnt a mobile phone, its supposed to be a full on desktop that has good user interaction.

thats still to pricey for me. $14.99 huh, rather go and get some fish n chips or something, that would atleast give me some pleasure and enjoyment

I abandoned windows years ago switching from XP to various Linux distributions. I keep dual boot with win7 just for DirectX games I download here. I even download them on Linux.
There is no other reason to stay with windows anymore other than habit.

I get your point totally. But for the majority of users, Windows can be difficult to manage. The reason Windows remains so popular is the immense amount of tech help available. For your average user, learning a totally new OS while self diagnosing whether the problems you are having are user error or a problem with the distro you installed can be to daunting.
