Well I don't know exact details to how it is in the US, but in Canada, this is how it works: Everyone has free health care and part of your taxes go towards paying for it. I love the way it works and wouldn't change it for the world. Even though people keep whining about taxes being high (and they kinda are insanely high in most canadian provinces), I find it doesn't matter since it comes right back to you through social programs. (ex: you don't have to go in huge amounts of debt when trying to pay for college and university)
