Aus Anlass der Beisetzung eines bei einem Jagdunfall verblichenen Onkels kehren ein chinesisch-amerikanisches Pärchen und sein kleiner Sohn von Shanghai zurück nach Vancouver. Schon kurz nach der Ankunft vermeint der Knabe unheimliche Erscheinungen wahrzunehmen und erkrankt alsbald ernsthaft, was die Mutter veranlasst, Rat bei einem chinesischen Heilpraktiker zu suchen.
