Bottom mapping software for sport fishermen and divers

DrDepth reads data from a GPS and a Sounder (fish finder) and automatically creates maps of the sea bed.

Use a computer (PC or Pocket PC) in the boat to get an instantly updated bottom map.
If you do not want to bring a computer in the boat, log data on your instrument and map at home.
DrDepth can be used with any combination of GPS and Sounder with NMEA-0183 data output or data logging function.

DrDepth is a software application that runs on either a PC (Vista/XP/2000/NT4/ME/98 etc) or a Pocket PC (Pocket PC/Windows Mobile 2003 or later). DrDepth creates bathymetric maps from position and depth data delivered by your GPS and sounder. There are no strict requirements on the instruments. As long as they have NMEA-0183 data output or can log data they will be fine.

If your instruments have NMEA-0183 data output you can connect them to a computer and DrDepth will read NMEA data from them. Instruments are connected using serial ports on the computer. You can use cables and/or Bluetooth devices as you, and your computer, like. There is also a simple switch solution available, supported in software, if you need to connect two instruments to one serial port.

If you have an instrument capable of logging data (for example many Lowrance units) you do not need to use a computer in the boat. Do your mapping at home and create map data to be displayed on your instrument.

Computer requirements are very mild. More or less any computer with a processor speed of 200MHz or faster will do. And as DrDepth does NOT use OpenGL or Direct3D for 3D rendering, you do not need a high grade graphics card.
