Right to use these unlocked maps get a SD card at least 4GB to accommodate the large maps.
Insert into your PC/Mac and Create a folder called Garmin on the SD card then drag the gmapsupp.img file you have downloaded into the Garmin folder you just created.
Once the file has transferred eject the SD card and insert it into the GPS unit; in my case I have the Garmin Nuvi 205w, and turn it on.
Once the Garmin has booted up, Press on Tools, then Settings then Maps then Map Info
You should now see Europe NT 2012.20 or whatever map you added earlier with a tick against it, you will also see the older map ticked, I just unchecked the older one.

i've downloaded EU maps and installed to USA/Canada Garmin 1390. Maps are working, but i can not acquire satellites here in EU. anybody had similar problem?

Can't put more than one map on my gps, anyone know what to do? I put it on my sd card in the garmin folder : gmapsupp but only one will work gmapsupp(2) won't work

I cannot get to put more than one map of all those 20 from the download on my sd card even though I still have plenty of space left. My gps can only recognize the one file call : gmapsupp in the garmin folder of my card and it won't recognize a :gmapsupp (1) or anything like it.
any suggestion please ???

maybe try to create another folder named garmin something? and install the other map in there?

does this work on Garmin nuvi 2300. when I unrar it, it came up as a Disc Image File. Is this right and should i convert it to another file name as i do not see the folder in tools. I loaded the UK/Ireland only file directly on the sat nav, is that why? Should i also format the sd card in any way?

Why are there no instructions? I've heard garmin stuff is a total pain to install, I just trying to help a friend, the idiot bought a garmin after I'd told him to buy a navigon. If I ever find out I may make a tut but surely there are install instructions for this!!!!
