I personally support the mindset that subs are better than dubs because when an anime is dubbed, it will most of the time be crappy due to the attempt to translate Japanese slogans, sayings, verbal gestures, jokes, sarcasm, etc, into English which is more than difficult if not impossible--translations, as properly defined, can only help to express the 'sense' of what a word/text means in another language [that's why tons of dubbed work end up sounding creepy/awkward or even cheesy; hence, we need to understand that a lot of Japanese culture & tradition are indelibly infused into a lot of stuff that they produce/manufacture.
Another reason why I prefer to watch subs is because I am a natural linguist - I find true vibrant beauty in all different colors and flavors of our world. It is statistically proven tho: Fansubbed Anime is one of the most effective methods that influence and excel the learning of the Japanese Language. [:-] Cheers!
