When someone replies directly to a comment you leave, have the profile option to receive an email notification.
This way if you get a comment answer to a question you have, you find out sooner.

Oh!! I don't know any of the technical stuff, but why "email notification" and not something like the "comment tab" in my profile? I want a "thread tab" and a "response tab". [or at least a pm, not an email]

I don't "just" like this. I was looking all over ideabox for this. And I was ready to suggest it. I don't see the purpose to help people,or comment on threads when I'll not have a "connection" with others asking me or commenting something to I have said (how I/they learn?)

It would be nice if it were like youtube. A notification with a link in the message to the place you left the comment :D

why not just add an Instant Messenger id (jabber is best) to your profile and insist your downloading community contact you that way?

It would be nice to leave the reply comment in the comments, so everyone else can see the information.
If there was an option to just reply via PM, then the comments would become neglected.

I prefer an email option because I don't want to have to check the website neurotically, or forget altogether.

this is a good example of you not being able to know i commented, except that i "liked" your comment. if not for me "liking" or "disliking" your comment, you might never know i said anything.
