Actually, i take back my thumbs up. How exactly does it stop fake torrents? I disagree with that. I can easily bypass a capatcha setting and still upload some bogus torrent.
No, the system Kat has in place works because of the button users can select "report fake torrent." From there, users can be banned, blacklisted on the site, etc.

.
then they ought receive auth from KAT to circumvent captcha
.
.
> have a captcha for the first 20 uploads
.
captcha requirement ought trigger based on posting frequency.

I really advise against this. There are many legitimate uses for bots and they shouldn't be discouraged where possible. Many users use scripts to help speed up the upload process and to download from other sources and auto upload.
It may be an idea to have a captcha for the first 20 uploads or so a user does, that way if they reach over that and haven't been caught out as a spammer then they should be good anyway.
However none the less there's nothing to stop users making a little effort to get rid of captcha and get auto uploading.
Personally though I don't like the idea.

I didn't think bot uploads were that big an issue, but hey wtf do I know. I wouldn't want to discourage real uploaders from contributing to the community tho. There are other ways to filter out malicious users. Only registered users can upload torrents, I know you can make an account and get past the Captcha code and then hand it over to the bot to do the dirty work. BUT, the staff here is pretty good at tracking the dirty uploads, and after a few of them, that account is gone. I don't really see the need to verify every single time, it could tick off the power users.
I'd be careful with this one...
