Machete (Danny Trejo), is een voormalig lid van de Mexicaanse Federale Politie die tegenwoordig leeggeklopt door de drugsbaas Torrez (Steven Seagal) over de straten van Texas zwerft.

Schoorvoetend neemt hij een aanbod aan van spindoctor Benz (Jeff Fahey) om de corrupte senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) om te leggen. Bedrogen en met de kansen tegen hem gekeerd vlucht hij.

Machete wordt bijgestaan door Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), een brutale tacowerper, Padro (Cheech Marin), zijn 'heilige' broer, en April (Lindsay Lohan), een socialite met een voorliefde voor vuurwapens.

Ondertussen wordt hij achtervolgd door Sartana (Jessica Alba), een sexy ICE-agent die een speciaal belang in de zwaardvechter heeft.

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up.

He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence.

If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you!
