Synopsis

Cette série nous fait suivre le quotidien de Malcolm, un enfant de dix ans pas comme les autres puisque doté d'un quotient intellectuel de 165.



Malcolm vit dans une famille américaine moyenne composée de sa mère Lois, une mère hystérique et autoritaire, de Hal, son père,

immature employé de bureau n'ayant aucun sens des responsabilités, et de ses frères, Francis, Reese, Dewey (un 5e fils, Jamie,

complètera au cours de la série) avec lesquels il fait les 400 coups.



L'humour de la série repose principalement sur la vie de famille - qui est décrite de façon assez réaliste -,

les situations parfois burlesques et aussi sur le second degré (des gags cachés ou des insinuations subtiles).

Les personnages secondaires sont souvent des

clichés de la société occidentale américaine et le ton de la caricature est assez comparable au dessin animé Les Simpsons.

Chaque épisode ne porte pas précisément sur un thème ou une morale précise,

néanmoins on peut déceler tout au long de la série les paradoxes et les problèmes quotidiens de la société.
