Unexpected is the third solo studio album by former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, to be released via Columbia Records and Music World Entertainment in North America in August 2008. It will be Williams' first full length contemporary R&B album, moving away from the gospel style of her previous efforts. The album's first single, "We Break the Dawn," was released in April 2008, with its second single being the Stargate-produced "Stop This Car."

"We Break the Dawn" is a dance-pop song recorded by American singer-songwriter Michelle Williams. It was written by Andrew Frampton, Williams and Solange Knowles, and produced by Wayne Wilkins and Frampton for William's third studio album Unexpected (2008) "We Break the Dawn" was nominated for one award from New Now Next Music Awards 2008 for Best R&B Vocal Performance By a Female Artist. . It was released as the album's leading single on the People.com website on March 31, 2008.

The music video for the song was shot on April 23 in Los Angeles, California.[5] It premiered on May 20, 2008 and was directed by Phil Griffin. It features Williams dancing in a empty city with her background dancers.
